First, if Torbush is gone I have mixed feelings. At times I questioned him. However, with a very young secondary we did have 6 pick sixes this year. That is aggressive D. We also had a very young D line. Overall the D wasn't just terrible. We really need a good hire here.

What about John Tenuta? Although ND struggled, he was the hottest DC around a couple of yeras ago. He hasn't forgotten how to coach. There are a lot of DC spots open right now. Competition will be tough.

Also, Nix turns down Fla. and Torbush leaves for Kansas? That tells me Nix has complete control of the D. Nutt must not even talk to the guy. I figure Mullen has been in Torbush's ear a few times.

Igram wins the Heisman? Ingram is good, but, I say Dixon, McCluster, Gerhart, and others could have done what he did at Bama. Hell, Richardson got yards against Auburn when Ingram couldn't.

Could Ingram have done what Dixon did if he had played at State, or what McCluster did if he was at Ole Miss?

They have made that great award worthless. I may not have agreed with some past winners but this is the first time I've said an undeserving player won it.

coaching. Torbush's old balls personality carries over into his coaching. I'm glad he is gone.

His 6 pick sixes may have been Torbush's crowning achievement at State, but overall the results were not good. You can tell that DBs if they were chasing down a receiver would almost always just play the receiver and not the ball. It wasn't just non experience, it was lack of teaching fundamentals on Torbush's part. I know in a zone, you probably can't do this as much but I never saw our defenders jam the wideouts ever, another fundamental we could have used.

I'd like to get a DC that will play 4 DLs enough that we never notice a 3 DL set. I'd like to see much more backfield blitzing, and a lot more man to man. We have to take notice that we're playing a lot more spread offenses. About half the teams do it nowadays. Most of all I'd just like for our defense to appear like it is SEC quality and belongs to the conference.
