Game results feel so different later in the season than they do at the time the game is played.
I was excited because WVU knocked off #15 Virginia Tech.
Turned out Hokies, which had beaten North Carolina and Middle Tennessee before meeting the Mountaineers, lost to Notre Dame 32-29, Pitt 28-7, Syracuse 41-36.
Granted, Pitt and Notre Dame probably would beat WVU, too, but Syracuse?
After WVU lost 30-24 to Maryland I wasn’t dismayed because I thought the Terps were talented.
Then Maryland lost to Iowa, got clobbered by Ohio State and had the score doubled on them by Minnesota.
So neither game looks as impressive as it did at the time.
That's why I reevaluate the WVU results every week after the new round of games by the Mountaineers' opponents. Things change and give you a different opinion if you have an open mind.
Football is like golf. You never know whether you are going to get the bear or the bear is going to get you every time you address the golf ball or tee up the football for a kickoff. Which is what makes both so entertaining.
