My Thoughts on baseball

We have a few issues that need to be ironed out and we will start winning. We should be 4-2 in SEC...but Cohen, as much as I like the intense bastard, is 17ing killing us.

1. The lineup.

It's time to quit with the experiments, and quit with the matchups. For the love of God, please do not ever DH Tyler Fullerton again. I would rather have Porter or Detz bat blind folded against a lefty than to see Fullerton at the plate while those two are on the bench. And pinch hitting Frost when Porter is over there? I'm so beyond frustrated that all I can do is laugh. Get your head out of your *** Cohen, and get your best hitters in the lineup.

No more batting Slauter 4th...no more batting Henderson 5th or 6th....and no more lineups without a Detz or Porter in it. We should have some version of the following lineup, and Henderson and our 3rd baseman should ALWAYS bat 8 & 9.

Frazier, Bradford, Renfroe, Rea, Porter/Detz, Slauter, Pirtle, Norris, Henderson.

2. Evan Mitchell

We have two guys that can start and we can count on....Lindgren and Graveman. It's time to move Graveman to Saturday, and then pitch by committee on Sunday. I don't give a **** if we start Pollo, Gentry, Cox, or whoever....but Evan Mitchell should only be used in desperate situations or midweek games. Experiment failed.

We can beat around the bush all we want, but the biggest issues are things that Cohen can control....the lineup and the rotation. It's time for him to get it right and leave it. Quit out coaching yourself, John. Renfroe reaches base every 17ing at bat...get somebody like Rea, Detz, or Porter behind his *** so we can start getting him in. Putting Rea at 7th and Henderson at 5-6 is dumb as 17, no matter how you look at it. It's really simple, if he will quit over thinking and just get his best guys on the field regardless of which arm they pitch with or which side of the plate they stand on...we will win these 1 run games.

I knew when I saw no Detz, Porter, or Slauter in game 1 that we would likely lose. You can't leave 3 of your top 5 hitters on the bench and expect anything other than a shitfest at the plate....that's what we got.

I also knew that we would have to score several runs in game 2 if we started Mitchell. Well, we started him, he 17ed up AGAIN, and we were unable to score enough runs to come back. Would have helped to have Porter who could have given us a run with 1 swing.....but instead Cohen puts in Frost to pinch hit. Again...stupid as hell. He is not that dumb, he is just trying to "coach" too hard.

That's really it. We have a good team, good hitters, and good pitchers...we just have to play them. In the right positions and in the right spots in the lineup. We'll be fine if Cohen will wake the 17 up.

As much as I hated today, I believe some good will come out of it. Evan is out. Had he pitched a little better, he may have continued starting costing us more games. Now that Evan isn't starting our team will be more relaxed and play better. Don't know about you, but I'm a nervous wreck when Evan pitched. Team had to be same way. You can't play well that way. If losing series gets rid of Evan, I'm ok with it.

Yea, I've always been uncomfortable when Evan pitches.

I was actually more pissed about the dumb lineup in Game 1, than I was Evan starting game 2. Evan is one of those guys that has so much potential, Im sure Cohen kept hoping he would eventually get his control down and go 7 strong innings....not gonna happen.

I actually like the idea of possibly starting Gentry on Sunday. Would be a big change of pace from Lindgren and Graveman and could cause teams problems. If he gets in any early trouble, throw the entire pen if you have to since it's Sunday.

The above have at least earned a right to be given the opportunity to start

I totally agree brother

Even Evan was an experiment because Butch wanted/liked the Evan/Ross Mitchell tandem. Problem is we may need Ross for other games like this weekend. As far as our team being relaxed, when the pitcher is walking everyone- it really affects the defense.

Sucks that we had to lose a series for this to happen.

A submarine/low arm angle guy like that. They are usually two pitch pitchers and usually left hand hitters hit/see them pretty well. That's why they are in the bullpen in most every league above high school. Guys like Gentry are effective one time through the order and they can eat you a few critical innings- but you don't want a lineup seeing them 2-3 at bats. Hitters will adjust to the arm angle and they will start to eliminate pitches.

Is will cox an option for anything? Can he pitch midweek so we can save pollo?

How are we going to get woodruffs confidence back? If he pitches a couple of good innings, should we get him out ASAP? How fragile is he?
