My thoughts on the coach search

I've been reading off on on for week the coaching search gossip and will admit I have never seen anything like it. They have people on Genespage tracking planes. Heck I would not be surprised if they had spies staked at GB's house monitoring his every move.

That being said I just hope we get a young coach who has an established reputation as a winner, is an offensive genius, and is flexible. Tommy Tubberville would not be a bad hire as that he is an established winner and knows how to win but will he come here...I don't think so...I think he's going to take some time off and focus on his family. He is a millionaire now. Derek Dooley-Hmmm he might come here...His father is a legendary SEC coach and he might be holding out for GA but I think Richt won't be going anywhere for a while. He is very well liked here in GA where I live. The Ga Tech coach I am very surprised his name has not been mentioned won't come as that Tech is already talking about sweetening his contract. Chris Peterson...don't think so but it would be nice...Haven't seen Hal Mumme's name mentioned but wouldn't mind seeing him here...His teams were fun to watch while he was at KY...Fulmer...HECK NO... He's a has been and burnt out...NO THANK YOU. I even heard Lou Holtz name..Another NO THANK YOU... The new coach needs to be a young upstart coach with a thirst for winning.
We've got a sweet home schedule next fall which includes Florida, Ga Tech, AL, and OM... With a new coach at the helm season ticket sales should escalate and the stadium full at least for the first few home games. I'm already looking forward to the 2009 season.

well by all means if he was dynamic on the sidelines we should probably overlook the fact that he was just fired for sucking ***

Bash me if you want but a dynamic offense and well coached defense is a heck of alot more fun to watch that what we've had the past few days.
Yes Mumme put them on probation but KJS did us too...

anything football related.

Your criteria-"young, offensive genius, and flexible"

Your first coach mentioned: Tuberville? Neither young nor offensive minded. "He's a millionaire NOW"? So he wasn't a millionaire before? Idiotku

You don't think Dooley would come here if offered? Areyoufuckinginsaneku?

Hal Mumme? Idiotku

Fulmer? Pumpkinheadku

Lou Holtz? Fuckingidiotku, you meant "Little Sprinkler" Skip, not the "Human fire hose" Lou.

Until the late 1990's, all defenses were either a varation of the 3-4 or 4-3, with Georgia running the 4-4. Everybody had an assignment and a lane to keep. You blocked these guys out of their lanes. You had blitzes, but they were precise and well-timed. You protect your lane, THEN go after the ball (read and react).

Along comes Joe Lee. HIS philosophy was to "get in the backfield and go after the ball". In 1980, his New Mexico team dismantled a powerful BYU team led by Jim MacMahon, while half his players were injured and he was using a Manager as his Free Safety. How? Nobody had ever seen his kind of defense before. He created chaos.

You saw a lot of this style perfected with the "46" defense by the 1985 Chicago Bears....have good cover corners and simply send the kitchen sink at the QB.

However, in the late 1990's, everybody started going to this aggressive kind of defense. College players enjoyed this defense much better and it appealed to their aggressive instincts. So, when EVERYBODY starts going to this kind of defense, you have to recruit better athletes to run it. Joe Lee never adapted once it caught on and everybody else was running a variation of it.
