N-C at Bandys

I know this has been mentioned in another thread but I will most likely be in attendance for this game. Once I get to Bandys ill have been to all Catawba Co schools (including Hickory city schools).

This should be a fun match up with 2 different styles at Qb with Pope being a fast and elusive player QB/Ath and Swett can run im sure but he can sit in that pocket and sling that ball so Going to be interesting what the game plan is for both sides.

I have NOT seen either team or been around either team but I know Bandys to suppose to be very good with a heavy senior team, with Newton being young as well. Bandys is a hard place to win at.

Thoughts?

Bandys was fun place to watch some games. The 4th rd of the playoffs with Bandys n Shelby back in ‘97 was a fun and very cold classic game to watch.

No they don’t have a track around the field. Best I can remember.

Oh, I’ll say, seen some great games there myself. Bit of a forewarning, though, if your team gets into a fist fight with their team, your *** will promptly get directed out the infamous “Visitors Gate.”

You might think, “Well, so what, it’s just another exit,” yeah, right, what happens is that you get turned around and loose all sense of direction. It took me thirty minutes to find my car, like I’d entered the twilight zone.

I like fields like that. Saint is that way and Maidens old field was that way too.

Yep, having tracks around the field hurt the vibe. Definitely understand the reason why they do it but still stinks..


Should be a good matchup. Hopefully everyone is healthy on both sides. Newton had a bye last week, extra week to prepare may help but the difference will probably be Brady Swett. Kid can run and throw. Hard on defenses

I expect there will be a huge crowd at this game. Fans may want to get there early. With NPC conference not playing I imagine fans from that area will come to this one. If I wasn’t out of town this would be my game go to.

What a GAME!!!!

First half it looked like Bandys may pull away with 21 to 7 in 1st Q but Conover battle to keep it closer but gave up a TD before half so it was 35-28 at half. both defense didnt do well as they gave up big play as N-C had success with runs by #7 and #0 for the Red Devil and Swett for the Trojans did well in passing game.

2nd half: No one scored in the 3rd both team swapped a turn over a piece n a few turn over on downs
4th Q: N-C drove down and they had a TD but a holding call would bring it back but that didnt let them stop as they fought n would eventually find pay dirt for a TD but with it being 34-35 in favor of bandys - a 2pt was planned, a FAKE FUMBLROUSKI and they had a man wide open in the back of the end zones for 2!!

Bandys did have a chance on their final drive bc N-C was flagged on unsportmentlike conduct on the 2 pt conv. then a offside on the kickoff. Bandy have it at their 43ish yard line, they would fight n claw but they would face 2 4th downs n would get it but after the 2nd 4th down conv. they would fumble on a bad snap or something n N-C would recover it at the LOS for the WIN!!!!!!!
