Just reading some of the stuff about UL on the rafters. I'll admit that I haven't followed Whoregate very closely, but banners being VACATED - lol. I frankly don't give a rats *** about UL. Since I live out of state, I only hear about them on this board. The bigger thing is that it should really set up UNC to have a few banners removed.
No way UNC gets touched. Like you kind of said, UL is irrelevant...you should see this press conference they're having now, it's pathetic looking, there's some 90 yo grandma up there, looks like it's at a 1996 era bank in pikeville...idk where they are, jurich, pitino, the lawyer, etc all look like aids infested weirdos....just a pathetic organization.
So, NCAA might hammer them so they can look like they are a responsible organization that has rules, and they won't really hurt anybody by doing that. All 5,000 UL fans in KY, or whatever, will cry, and NCAA basketball won't take a hit. Nobody cares.
No way they touch UNC for academic stuff for a couple reasons. UNC is a basketball god, and the academic stuff opens a potential can of worms for the NCAA. It's kind of thr elephant in the room. It's understood these "amateur" athletes go to "class", but not "exactly". And that's fine. Hey, we the NCAA are making boatloads of money on their backs. Everything is just fine.

No banners are coming down. UofL gets to decide which players were involved and when. You think they are gonna serve up any of the '13 ship winning players? Nope. They will toss some random dudes under the bus to keep the NCAA from digging further to find out the real truth...they will willingly vacate a few meaningless wins here and there...Ricky will sit out a few conference games...and that's it. I'd like to agree with you both. But I just don't think the NCAA is going to strip a banner from UofL or UNC. Hopefully I am wrong.
It's pretty clear the NCAA knows everything they need, but they must have to allow UL to respond according to some statute in the NCAA's book of made up rules they usually ignore.Figuring out which games were played with ineligible players seems like a project that could be handed off to a 5th grader. Give 'em a list of names and box scores.
