Here's the call where Mississippi State got John Higgins'd last night.
During the game, this was a play-on no-call. Mississippi State then went on to play a possession and the next dead ball, the refs went to the monitors. Live-action it looked like a flop, and slow-mo was even worse. Pissed me off because if you think it may have been flagrant, then you obviously thought it was a foul. Call one at that moment and go to the monitors, or let it go. Once possession changed and the whistle didn't blow, play TF on.
You honestly have to wonder if they were trying to fix it, one ref walked away after they showed the replay a couple of times like they didn't want to be a part of whatever was about to go down, the other two took a good five-seven minutes going back and forth to the monitor before finally calling it a flagrant one. It somehow, gets worse from there.
Because the dead ball was called in UCONN's possession, they got two shots, and the ball back. They made both free throws, and on the following play, one of their girls absolutely bulldozed a Miss. St. player into the court. Both feet were set, and she got ran over, no-call. Luckily, the shot was an airball, and then this happened.
If Doris Burke isn't married to Jim Spanarkel, she ought to be. She was licking so much ref carpet last night during both the monitor review and defending the no charge call, I thought she was gonna gag on a whistle.
