- I am losing the fight in the graying eyebrows department. It was a losing battle all along anyway. Now it's just a matter of upkeep. Not going to be bushy gray eyebrows guy.

- Cannot keep up with the basketball transfer portal business. Just give me a roster. We were getting our *** beat so much this winter that I guess I spaced out on the names that are being mentioned.

- That's enough of the cool black guys leaving (or likely getting fired from) the football staff. Vince can't carry the whole thing.

- Four days left of school. FINALLY a break #TeamSarcasmButSympathyToo

- Getting close to 3rd car time. We have one, college kid has one, and up-and-comer will be driving in the near future. I really want the smallest possible car that's not a SmartCar or some gimmicky thing. Something that runs on hopes and dreams instead of gas or electricity.

- Yankees slogan - They Hate Us 'cause They Ain't Us. Might as well enjoy the ride.

Seriously though, I did a 5 day fast last week after doing a ton of research/reading about them as regards longevity/improving metabolism/health/etc... Felt great. Wasn't hungry at all, never light-headed, felt I could have gone a lot longer. Worked out as usual and felt as strong, but my stamina definitely took a dip. My fasting blood glucose has averaged 76 b/c keto since January 1st, and it only dropped to 65 during the fast. My ketones, however, skyrocketed -- which is what's supposed to happen when you're not eating while in ketosis. All in all it was a pretty interesting experience.

Our third senior slowly-pitched softball tournament is this weekend in my old stomping grounds of St. Louis. Looking to (a) not get killed in any gang-land style violence and (b) to improve on my abysmal performances during the first two tourneys. If things don't improve soon I'm gonna join the f#cking Peace Corps.

Damnit, mav!!! We’ve been over this before.

Dingers!!! You gotta hit dingers, brother. How can you ever expect to transform the slowly-pitched-senior-softball world into a unified, aesthetically pleasing, utopian entity that is collectively wearing stirrups on the reg...if the poster boy of all things stirrups ain’t hitting dingers on the reg?!?!?!?!??????

Answer: YOU CAN’T!!!!

We must all do what we must do, for if we do not, then what we must do does not get done.”
- Chung Mee

Also...Tom Tuttle from Tacoma, Washington isn’t walking through that door. So forget about the Peace Corp.

Also...stay safe, brother.

The picture on the right he looks like he is having a painful wiz. Maybe passing a stone. Or maybe he's blowing his load in some co-eds mouth.

The picture on the left, its like he's looking at himself saying, "I dunno 'bout that".

My pure educated guess is he will have his pick of wonderful co-eds to chose from once he arrives on campus and they will let him do as he pleases.....side note:

Once in my college days me and a buddy went to Two Keys. We were actually making some progress with some wonderful co-eds. In walks Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley and all of the progress was lost and we were forgotten. Sadly the night ended with no co-eds.

We've now had three recruits for Cal that looked like chicks before they got here. Brandon Knight, BJ Boston, and now Ty Ty. The Delilah treatment helped Brandon turn into a good-to-great college player, whilst BJ kept his locks and we went 1-19 or whatever it was last year. I'd say it's time for Brennan Canada or Kareem Watkins or Zan Payne to earn all of this free Nike swag they get for being walk-ons, and shave Ty Ty's head as soon as they meet him.

Man I know that chicks dig the long-ball, but in our division we only get 3 HRs per game. This really cock-blocks me cause I can't free swing. However, to switch things up and break the pattern I think I'm gonna try free-swinging in the "pool" game (because it only counts towards the tournament seeding), and if I hit a few Han Solo HRs then so what?

Some sort of protest is in order. Mav ain’t pumping iron/roids and trotting around in the finest stirrups to hit anything less than 1 dinger per AB.

Richie Farmer and Vince Marrow make appearances on Matt Jones’ mountain wrasslin show tonight. I wish I was alive in the Richie Farmer era. Just listening to him talk today gets my Billy Joe juices flowing. Dude had a 40” vertical!

Oh I get “entertained” by music at the track meets as well. All the latest, greatest pop gems loudly & distortedly blasted on crappy speakers for my enjoyment & entertainment.

Upcoming week, I get to watch my kid run 400m, 800m, and 4x400relay.

basically the 2nd event to the 30th. All day event.
Yep. I feel your pain, brother. Typically we are 4x800 (1st event) & 3200m (2nd to last event). All. Freakin’. Day.

I am absolutely ecstatic on the occasions that she runs the 1600m (5th event) or even the 800m as her last event.

I just wish they would run the “open” events on a separate day...or better yet on a separate planet.

Welp, finally got back on track in St. Louis and had a decent tourney. We came in second (first loser) -- not bad for only having 10 players the whole weekend. Our lead-off hitter couldn't make it, so yours truly was moved into his spot and I did my best Rickey Henderson impersonation, sans lead-off dingers: 25-34 (.735) in seven games, no HRs, but four legit doubles and 2 legit triples ("legit" = hitting the gaps and running like a scalded dog). Felt great the whole weekend. It's honestly amazing what getting in shape can do for a fella. Next stop is the Smokey Mountain Classic next month, which always reminds me of one of my fave clips...

Mav lost so much weight, he’s now got the batting power of Kent Tekulve.
I was a huge Pirates fan as a kid in the 70’s. In little league we would goof around during warmups at practice trying to emulate Kent Tekulve’s pitching style...sidearm submarine...almost underhand. As goofy as it looked...he was very effective.

Couldn’t bat worth a shite though. Pretty sure he hovered around .100. So I’m sure “Skinny Mav” has a little more power that ol’ Tekulve.

Thanks, kooky! That brought back a ton of memories.

Lifelong Reds fan, but got my throwing style from Tekulve. More natural motion anyway.

Turns out:

Father Capistran Ferrito is the Friar playing in a slowly pitched softball game in Bogota, NJ.

I could be related to this dude... hence, awesomeness.
