Great observations Kaiser. I really value your basketball opinions. That first half whistle, ugh... just too much.

I'll add that I think Bam wasn't great today (or vs UCLA). Part of that was the officials, some just seemed to be that the moment was too big. I dunno.

I'm at th point where Cal winning a second championship will be a pleasant surprise. I think we will always have good teams with him. But to some degree, I agree with Herod that we have to have some of our good players come back.

@Kaizer Sosay .

You almost nailed it. You almost made the call of all calls. UK was dogshit when you said we were going on run for 9, this game unfortunately is reminiscent of the Wisconsin game.

We missed free throws, got no help from refs - but should not have settled for crap shots up 5.

Losing, take lead in last minutes, go on scoring drought - then, lose.

Meh. Could be worse. We could be UofL.

Getting awful tired of that bitching and moaning too. Instead of sending five or six in a draft class where a couple are D-league or Euroball bound, how about you get a couple to return, you greasy haired c**ksucker!
Who, pray tell, would you rather be as UK coach?

Who said I wanted Cal to leave? You extrapolated a very different argument from my post than the one I made. My point is he bitches, whines, and moans every year about the one and dones and being so young, yet he never tells a kid their draft stock can improve with another year and it would be his best interest to return. Instead, it's "players first", and push em out the door for another group of freshmen. Don't ***** about it when you create your own problem.

But, since you asked the question, I'll take the bait and answer. If Cal left tonight:

Brad Stevens, took a **** Butler program and made them a powerhouse, then made the Celtics fun to watch in the NBA. A level that even Cal sucked at.

Mark Few, although he will never leave Gonzaga, imagine what that dude could do with big time money and resources.

I wish Cal would bring more guys back. High levels guys, just to get a championship. But we sorta did that a few years ago and it still didn't work out.

I'm at a loss for who we would bring in after Cal. I dread that day. Maybe Mark Few wins a ship this year, but he's largely not done much.

You said you were sick and tired of Cal's bitching... and he's a **********...blah. Thus you don't want to hear it...In any case...

[Let's watch Mark Few spit the bit against the mighty Gamecocks and get bounced before his first FF win before handing him the keys to the Lamborghini.

Brad Stevens is a pro coach . Next.]

There's no one ready out there for this. No one.

The answer is this... we lost to the best team out there. We had the toughest draw. We had refs that sabotaged the game- you should have saw it- but you turned the game off or whatever. We tied the game down 7 under 51 seconds. Should've called TO to set up D. (Only coaching question I saw)

Cal is the perfect fit. He's a great coach too. We'll get 9. Soon.

I don't think we can talk at all about replacing Cal until K and Roy are gone. Those two guys leaving will help level the field a bit for whoever follows Cal.

Yeah, I'm not going to argue against the level of success Cal has had since coming to U.K. We were horrible. He turned it around in one year. With the exception of one season...we have been in the hunt every single year. He won a title and was in another title game. Multiple final fours. Dude lands one of the best recruiting classes every year. Not arguing against any of that. I will take that any day of the week. As it is tough to win a title. Takes some breaks. It just does.

I just think that the next time Cal bitches about having a young team might just be the day I finally snap and crush my TV into 10,000 tiny pieces. I just don't want to hear that any more. If you aren't happy about having a young team...then effing do something to correct that situation. You are the HMFIC. Do something...or just STFU and go about your business. Thats all I'm saying. Do it for the sake of my poor, innocent TV. TIA

And kooky, you are wrong about the Zags. They will beat USC. And they will give UNC all they want. I still think UNC wins it all though. But like I said before...this is the best team Few has had. That title game will be close. And if the Zags are on fire from the arc and get a few breaks...they could beat UNC in a one and done situation.

Having said that, I don't want Few as our coach. He is a perfect fit for the Zags. But I think he would struggle in the spotlight at U.K.

Cal is a perfect fit for U.K. He was made for this job. Not sure who I would want after him. Haven't really thought about it.

Cal is the man, but I have one thing to say. It took him 1.99999 seasons to figure out how to play Skal, and that was how Humphries was used tonight. He was damn near automatic with that same shot last year, but they hardly ever ran anything for it.

Hump will contribute next year.
Diallo should come out of the gate strong.
SKJ can't be that awful but he's at least a three year player
I'm not convinced Briscoe is gone
Wenyen has no business leaving
Usual gang of freshman should be a-ight. Plus aren't there still two big studs out there?
We be all right. Just keep being in the mix.

Football school anyway.

Tough game, fellas. I was rooting for ya, but didn't want to put in the jinx by posting it. No matter, the zebras took care of that. Arkansas got jobbed, and they swallowed the whistles on you guys. Feel bad for the Gamecocks tho. Ain't no way they get past the Zags playing 8 on 5.

Ding, ding, ding. This is the correct answer. Tell him what he's won, Johnny.

Yep, I did turn off the game in the first half. Watched Larson win the NASCAR race this evening, and flipped back over after Higgins and Crew calmed their tits and whistles in the second half. I did see the run that got the lead, and the full on bed shitting that lost it, and the prayers that almost got them back in it. Cal feeding Bam on that last turnover was an awful decision. Dude played like garbage the last two games, let's throw it to dickfingers. Not trying to drive at all when UNC went zone was frustrating as well.

It's been the same story with a different cast three years now. A stone cold killer from deep doesn't show up in March, and the moment gets to big for the team. It happened to Booker, Murray, and now Monk. Yet, Cal repeatedly whines about being young. RECRUIT SOME MULTI-YEAR PLAYERS, *******!

So yeah, I'm redassed right now, but it kills me to hear that when he creates the very problem he complains about. Maybe if he didn't do "players first", and kept Teague, the Harrison that doesn't play for Memphis, Lamb, and the handful of other D-League of Euroball lifers from leaving early, he might have another title, maybe two, and those players make an actual roster for more than a 10 day contract. So yes, I stand by ********** in the moment.

This sucks.

There needs to be robot refs. Something impartial, consistent and always correct.

In no other game can poor officiating affect the game like basketball. The first half was like telling the Patriots to play the first half without Brady, Edelman, Blount, Bennet...

In mulling this game over in my mind- we got ****** dry.

Plus Cal needs to use timeouts better. Our guys need to be calmed on our own offensive end to stop runs.

The more I think about it the madder I get about that 1st half. I usually don't pay attention to refs that much. But it turns out that the same ref made the majority of those bad calls yesterday. And he is the same ref that made similar calls when UCONN beat us in the ship a few years back. And...wait for it...wait for it...the same ref that made similar calls in the Wisconsin game. In particular he is the guy who blows the late whistle on U.K. when the other team makes a turnover.

Dude should be reprimanded and docked his pay from yesterday's game. And he should never be allowed to call another U.K. game ever again. That mofo obviously has something against Cal or UK.

Really really really ticked off right now!

2005 Michigan St (Elite 8)
2011 UConn (Final Four)
2015 Wisconsin (Final Four)
2017 UNC (Elite 8)

I think someone said UK is 1-4 in NCAAT games when he is ref. I hate losing, but I can take it when I feel like the game was really decided by the players.

I said something similar to this yesterday when I stopped watching the game. Walked out of the house I was watching it at and said I could take getting beat, can't take getting cheated. Got texts before I got home that it just kept getting worse. At some point the NCAA has to admit there is a problem. Two games in the big dance now that UNC should have lost, but the refs bailed them out.

It has seriously made me question if I should even care anymore. 2015 Wisky broke my faith in Cal, this and the Arky game broke my faith in the sport. What's the point if three whistles determine who is going to win?

that's pretty messed up.

Idgaf as long as you're consistently bad or good. It was all over the place yesterday. They missed so many obvious things like a walk, or wrong possession, just stupid things. Would call a touch foul, but wouldn't call massive contact on a layup. It was crap. Calls were made by refs on the other side of the floor while the guy right next to the play saw nothing. It sucked, it was weird, but it wasn't out of character for NCAA. College basketball fn sucks.

Our destiny was still in our hands. We made huge defensive stands, just to get the ball and go full retard on offense....we've seen this before in big games. We reverted back to what we did early in the season. Just looked out of touch and pressed way too hard.

And I haven't seen the minutes, but I feel like Hawkins played very little in the second half, maybe I'm wrong, but he was our most consistent scorer - till hump went bonkers - and I'm not sure he did much of anything 2nd half. I'll be upset if I found out he didn't play much 2nd half.

17 reb for fat Boy compared to 7 for Bam. Game over. That's pathetic. Plus we wasted half the game trying to post him up for some reason. Our offense got better during the season when we stopped that crap and put Bam on the move more, looking for lobs, working off picks. We developed a fluid lil offense. Not last night, though. Hell if Bam faced up he would step right around Meeks. Never did that.

Whatever

I concur. The horrible calls were in the first half. We overcame that and had a 5 point lead late in the second half. And the calls down the stretch were not bad…at least not that i remember. Pretty sure someone got in that ref's ear at the half and told him to clean it up. Point is…we had the game where we wanted it…up 5 with about 5 to go. And we blew it. Nobody top blame but UK.

But it still pisses me off about that ref now that i know what i know about the other games.

He was also the guy under the bucket on the last play before the half. You know…the play where two UNC defenders each hit Fox twice on both of his arms (Fox moved the ball from side to side very elusively not allowing them to touch the ball) and never touched the ball yet no foul was called…causing the ball to come up 2' short of the rim…where a UNC player grabbed the ball and then took 3 steps backwards with the last step being on the out of bounds line…yet traveling wasn't called and out of bounds wasn't called.

A quick check of the abacus tells us that's 6 calls that ref missed on that one play…or just chose to blatantly ignore. OK...let's count them…#1,#2,#3,& #4 - each UNC defender hit Fox on the arm twice (that's four fouls not called)…#5 - the UNC player who grabbed the ball took three steps backwards and travelled and then #6 - he stepped out of bounds.

That fox no call was pathetic. He did a heck of a job getting through the contact, creating more contact, and still almost finishing. That was obvious and blatant. Like you said, could have picked like 3 defenders to call it on.

Another wtf was when Berry turned his ankle and lost the ball out of bounds attempting a layup. Nobody was close to touching that ball. They gave it to UNC. There were other travels and bs things they seemed to not see.

Forcing the ball to Bam never worked and yesterday was not the time to try it again. I called it in the game thread FWIW. I love Bam, but dude kinda stunk it up the last few games. Of course, its hard to get going when you are fouled on nearly every shot attempt and its not called.

Ok, I mean, not like Cal was gonna take out Briscoe....though I would argue he played about 5 min too much - 34 min. Not like Hawkins isn't a dog on defense, and much better on offense. We needed some offense.

Willis not hitting a 3 sucked.

Mulder getting off the bench sucked hard. Don't think he anticipated playing when he got to the arena.

But man UNC played about like we did. Just equally matched teams desperately fighting for a final 4. If I was a UNC fan I would have been pissed...till that shot....

....who Briscoe left open, btw.
