Was out last night and got caught in a thunderstorm. As I was rushing to get kid in her carseat, a family in the car next to me was doing the same, only the dad seemed to be in turbo beastmode "let's GTFO of the rain" mentality. I heard him giving gruff instructions to his kid and then the kid said 'daddy, Elmo needs strapped in too', to which the dad replied "ELMO CAN TAKE CARE OF HIS DAMN SELF!"
Kid paused for a second and I heard her say, as the door was shutting, "no he can't he's a stuffed animal."

We had a similar situation last night. Belle and Anna had to wait the storm out in the van while the rest of us hightailed it inside. Son was driving and is cautious (slow) so we could have beat the storm, but no dice.
One of the biggest fights I've ever had with my wife was the result of her driving painfully slow and getting us completely destroyed by a storm we could have avoided. Dumb thing to really care about in hindsight but good lord woman drive the damn car faster than 5 millimeters per decade.
