Big game in the DVC, probably the championship. Big game for Naperville Central's playoff chances.

Thoughts?

0% chance I am there. Ugh.

NVs weakness is pass defense. That doesn’t bode well for the Wildcats.

NCs weakness is defense. That doesn’t bode well for the RedHawks.

These games are usually close, hard hitting, and one or two penalties/turnovers generally decide it.

No idea how this will turn out but I bet it’s going to be a good one.

The whole damn state is average this year....
True. You have Loyola ranked extremely high and the team that throttled them (Iggy-OH) is 2-3 and are coming off a 42-0 beatdown followed by losing to a Canadian team. Loyola's best win is against a 1-3 Rita squad. I guess they are an extremely good 1-3?

Whom do you consider above average. It seems to me that you are interested or you wouldn't have posted in the thread.

Don't read into my interest based on my posts. I enjoy this website a lot and I enjoy banter with you guys. To answer your question, based on film I've seen.... East St. Louis, NV, GBW, Warren, South Elgin, Bartlett, St. CN, LWE, Brook. There's more.... But it'll be too long. Point is, you can't always go by tradition. New programs rise and older ones slip. Every year is different.

Not an interesting game whatsoever. Neuqua has changed some scheme's in recent years but they don't do anything great on either side of the ball. I think this game will come down to who can limit the big plays. Does NV have the athletes at DB or overall speed to keep up with Jadon, Reggie, Keon on the outside? I would have to give the edge to NC here. I think NC obviously had the toughest first few games of the year in the whole state, and I think Sam Jackson will connect for some long balls, and will also run for a few TD's. My prediction 42-31 NC over NV

I disagree. I think it's very interesting. You have a team that was hyped up during the summer, but had a rough first few games that the vast majority of schools in this state would be 0-3 against facing off against a team that took the apparent #1 team to it's limits before falling. Cross town rivals. Conference on the line. Playoffs on the line for one of them. Easily the top game this weekend.

While Central is loaded at wideout they can’t hold a candle to the O we faced against East Side. Our DBs are a little better since ESL but it’s still our defensive weakness.

Our offense can score on anyone. Gronowski is a beast and his football smarts are off the charts. His dad played QB at Mt. Carmel and in D1 and his boy is just as gifted.

The “issue” is the staff’s propensity to not unleash the offensive firepower. I think they prefer to have a sledgehammer game and let 7 get it done. The only time in the last two years that they released the hounds was against the Flyers.

Would I be surprised to see NC win? Not at all. Not too many teams would be much better than 0-3 against Beast, HC, and Picktown.

Ihsa had the wrong start time so I get here at the end of the 1sr score tied at 0.
NV drove to start the 2nd to NC redzone but had to settle for 3.

NC capitalizes on a huge return and some lasers from #18 to score a TD

7-3 NC 3:20 in half.

NV long drive nets 7. Not sure how these teams were scoreless in the 1st.

10-7 NV

After the longest halftime ever NC goes 3 and out as NV blitzes aren't giving Jackson any time. Then NV methodically marches down the field. NV dominating the LOS. But a fumbled snap hinders the NV drive at the 10 and they settle for a FG.

13-7 NV

NV TD with under 2 remaining. NC clock management a head scratcher (timeout usage or lack there of). 2pt no good

19-14 NV 1:19 remaining

Thanks for the updates. Just wrapping up in the city. Sounds like a great game.

Neuqua will fall to #23 after this close call.

It was a great game...both teams battled hard...unfortunately pooch kickoffs have always been kryptonite for Central over the years...The Redhawks offense did some good things...and at times was in disarray..the muffed Central snap for nearly a 20 yard loss was big....The playoffs start for Central (2-4) next week @ Waubonsie...a place that's been a house of horrors the past few seasons...and DeKalb...is no pushover as they dismantled WV last night...then there's East St Louis @ Central in week 9....For the Wildcats...just win out and get a good seed...2 games with Metea with a trip to Naperville North sandwiched in between should accomplish that...
