Not aware of a bigger comeback at any level of football, ever. 42-0 midway thru the 2nd qr. and 49-14 early third qr. NN has tremendous weapons on offense, and will score a lot this year as long as Drake Davis stays healthy. Does anybody still doubt the abilities of Drake Davis now? NN was even missing their most explosive RB for this game. Early NN turnovers contributed to the ugly deficit. Hats off to the kids for not giving up. Hopefully coach Drendel can find a way to improve the defense, because we can't expect to score 50+ points every game. Key to NN getting to 5 wins... tweaking the D. Congrats Huskies!

... and NN twitter never threw in the towel, providing 28-0 end of 1st qr deficit score, halftime score 42-14, multiple 3rd qr scores. Over 100 points in the game.

I think more than a few teams in the DVC will be wanting to make some tweeks on Defense based some of the week 1 scores and results.

NN, NC look to be offensive juggernauts in the making. It too early to tell yet on Neuqua since they played Metea which might not win a game this season... Edit - this weeks game NV/NC will tell us where NVs offense is at I think. Same with WV - WV had some missed opportunities on offense and could have put up even more points - but I'm not sure how good LP's overall Defensie is (other than Perrion Winfrey - that kid can can play and moves well for 6-5 and 300+ pounds. and I'm surprised more D1 offers haven't gone his way... he has an offer from Wyoming I think?). I thought he was one of the best Dlineman in the DVC last year.

So - I might add LP to that offensive list: I was very impressed with Lake Park and particularly their QB. They could also be a team that will score a lot of points each game over the season. Their OT's and scheme for the most part owned the edge on the Run and they protected well enough in the passing game to force blitzes to get the needed pressure. LP struggled a bit when they got inside the 10 yard line. Tougher to run inside and outside with the compressed field and the heavy package in and all 11 guys closer to the LOS with less field to defend and as a result they had to settle for a couple of field goals, but if not they put up 5 TDs plus their 1 defensive score and 2pt conversion = 43

Man the DVC is going to be the Wild West of Offense this year it looks like. The team that can come up with the best Defensive effort week in and week out will be the ones walking away with the most wins.

Lake Park might be the best team nobody talks about, just like last year. They give everybody a battle. NC looks like the most balanced team in the DVC, still say they are the team to beat. In fact... I think they can go undefeated. With WV losing, the Wheatons solid (but not spectacular), and their blowout over GN- looking that way.

Yeah - NC certainly looks like the early front runner. Still not sold on an undefeated run in the DVC by anyone.

1 Rivalry games can be very tricky (and with Norths offense - it's even more tricky for NC to navigate.).

2 Also these are HS kids and unless they (NC) are heads and shoulders above every team talent wise; ....where you can win thru sheer talent or depth when having an off night and/or a case of Turnoveritis" -then I think they have an off night or two and someone steals a game from them (and may it be WV in week four!!:))

Edit. Also don't forget about St Eds. While I don't think NC is "at a different level" talent wise across the board than the likes of NN, LP, WV etc....if they manhandle St Eds then I would need to reevaluate my position! I lived down there about 15 years ago and St Ignatius and St Eds are powerhouses year in and year out and from my understanding continue to be to this day.

Ok so became less interested for a bit? It was 28-0 and they tweeted every score and big play, then we just got a halftime score of 42-14, there was a lot of action including 4 scores in that frame. When NN started making their comeback the tweets became very frequent again. I get why the loss of interest, in not criticizing and this is a stupid thing to contest BUT they absolutely lost interest. The difference was palpable, I was following them and had notifications on, was dependent on them for scores so yeah I noticed.

There are many distractions for us Naperville North fans and twitter followers... girls badminton, frosh tennis practice, varsity doorknob collecting club meeting- hard to keep up with all of it. Totally understandable!

"Varsity doorknob collecting" explains it all. I have always loved this man's Witt and Meltdowns.

Kid can play a bit.....

Calcagno put the team on his back. Davis and him played pitch and catch the entire second half. Edwardsville only played their second D one series and that was first half. Calcagno was an absolute MAN!! Played linebacker and WR and Punt returner.
Great second half after a poor first half and 4 turnovers that led to points, but make no mistake their Qb going down helped.

My buddy went to the game and here is the report I got from him:

E'ville is very explosive but thin. Their QB was unstoppable but missed the last 3 quarters with full body cramps. Their good RB from last season dealt with cramps all game, as did their DB unit. The game was stopped due to cramping more than any game I have ever seen. Their backups just got abused by Naperville North in the 2nd half. NN had a huge size advantage as a team. Calcagno is the real deal. They will be a force the rest of the season. You could tell Davis had some butterflies early on but settled in late obviously. Turnovers contributed to NN being down, then E'ville turnovers and cramps fueled the comeback.

Just wish you would learn the rules and how to spell the schools before you come in here and tell me how dumb I am ....

I didn't call you dumb. What are you even talking about? Don't be that cranky old guy from the Smurfs cartoon!!
