Exactly. If he had the "right setup", I guess none of the other HMS could duplicate it. Also, he never duplicated that "right setup" ever again. HMMMM. They can say all they want, just like the NBA, NFL and other sports have had some very questionable results, especially the NBA with the draft lottery. Forgot what team, but they overcame long odds and got the #1 overall pick. Maybe the Knicks with Ewing ? It was pretty much proven that (back before the ping pong ball system they used envelopes with team logos inside), the Knicks envelope had been refrigerated making it cold, and even was creased or bent on the edges. The backup plan was in the evn that the envelope cooled during the wait. Ernst & Whinney was the accounting firm who over looked the lottery for Gulf & Western Industries making sure it was on the up and up, Well, guess who just happened to be the majority owner of the Knicks ? You guessed it, Gulf Industries. Nothing to see here. **** happens all the time.
Other shady dealings :
The owner for the Charlotte gets into legal trouble, moves team to New Orleans despite having some of the best attendance #s. He tried to sell the team, it fell thru. The NBA takes over the Hornets. Chris Paul demands a trade. Losing its only superstar, Stern vetos a trade to the Lakers, then Ok's one to cross town rival Clippers. So Stern helping New Orleans out for losing its only star, rigged the lottery for the Hornets with only a 13% chance of picking #1.. And guess who they selected, Anthony Davis
2016 Dikembe Mutombo makes a quickly deleted post on Twitter hours before the Lottery "congrats to Sixers for grabbing the number 1 overall pick."
03 Cleveland lands #1 and hometown hero Lebron James. Nothing really fishy here, BUT in later when Lebron left for Miami, not once, not twice, but three times Cleveland lands the #1 pick, all while never having the worst record. The year after Lebron left (2011 draft, with just a 2.8% chance (1-1,493 chance) they win the top pick. Then they win it again in 2013 (15% chance) and 2014 (1.7% chance). So 3 years out of 4 they get #1, and again in 2019 on a coin flip with Phoenix for the #2 worst record slot. 2 times after Lebron left, 1st to Miami and then to LA (2019) Cleveland lands the top pick, and never had the overall worst record and having the best % chance. HMMMMM.
