I-440 is going to be closed, starting tomorrow afternoon through Monday morning. The lanes will be shut down westbound but should (should...) be open eastbound.

What does this mean if you've never been here?

It means that if you're coming from the West on I-40 you can still take 440 eastbound in and then take the West End (Exit 1), then go left on Murphy Road. However, you can't take this exit out, and will have to go down West End to 40 to leave.

GODFREY SUGGESTS - take the 46th Street Exit on I-40 before you even seen the Nashville skyline. Get on 46th for 3ish miles, which cuts through Sylvan Park (where I live!) and turns into Murphy Road. Murphy will take you up to West End. Ta-da!

It means that if you're coming from the South on I-65, you screwed. You have to go all the way, and make a left at the Demonbreum exit. Kind of the suckage...

GODFREY SUGGESTS - Take the Woodmont Blvd exit across from the old 100 Oaks Mall (Now yet another set of Vandy Medical Buildings). Take Woodmont until it hits Hillsboro Pike, make a right and go OVER 440. The road turns into 21st. You pass through the Village and BAM - Commodore Country.

25/45/40.

If you go that way beware the stretch of 40 between Lexington and Jackson. Rife with absolute dickbag Tennessee Troopers.

Be careful on 45 south of Jackson. Friday congestion causes lots of wrecks. The gf and I were hit by a 16 year old in a Silverado the Friday of Labor Day Weekend.

Those of you interested, there's a Starbucks on the HW 45 N / I-40 Junction - NOT the bypass that takes you out by Pringles Park.

No reason to go through Bama. Northbound and southbound 65 traffic is the ***** through Brentwood on a Friday.

Trust me people, I drive to and from Nashville to Oxford or Brandon about 400 times a year.

is 45N to Selmar, TN. Hang a right on 64E for about 10 miles to Adamsville. Left on 22N to Lexington. 40E the rest of the way. It will take you about 20-25 minutes longer if you go 45N up to Jackson and get on the Interstate there. You cut the corner by going the way I described. Godfrey is right about the shortcuts once you get to Nashville, however.

The weather is suppose to suck the entire weekend.

Seriously, what godfrey said is correct. The 440 closure blows.

I've been down 22 to Lexington (to pay a ticket per the aformentioned douche troopers). Never thought about that.

That's a stroke of overly meticulous navigation genius.

I've seen quite a few State & UMiss logos around the neighborhood over the years, including the aforementioned flag (4600 block of Wyoming).

I'm down for a beer or two at McCabe's if you're buying...

When did they put a Woodmont exit in? I don't remember one, but I moved from Nashville 5 years ago. There isn't an exit between Armory and I-440 if I recall correctly.

If there really isn't a Woodmont exit and you posted this on purpose, well played. However, an alternative to your route is to go past I-440 and exit I-65N at Wedgewood. Take a left (west) and take Wedgewood past Belmont University across 21st/Hillsboro Rd. (it becomes Blakemore at that point). Take a right onto Natchez Trace Blvd. and that will lead you straight to the stadium.

FYI:

http://news.tennesseeanytime.org/node/2551

Notice how they mentioned heavy traffic this week-end for the Titans game, but nothing about the Vanderbilt game.

Which brings up another point: If anyone wants to catch an NFL game on Sunday, the Titans play the Texans at LP Field at noon. You can check Ticketmaster for tickets, but it you dont' have any luck, there's always scalpers.

Wouldn't it be easier and quicker for the West bound traffic leaving to go West on West End to ?White Bridge Road?. Take a right (N) on White Bridge and then catch 40 West of the I-440 junction. That way seems way easier to remember and probably quicker.

I think it's just that section of I-440 that is closed, so you should be fine. Someone else can confirm or refute though, since I don't actually live in Nashville anymore.

onto Murphy Rd., and it's probably going to be packed. So, yes it may be easier to take West End to White Bridge. Easier/quicker still would be to take any # avenue northbound up to Charlotte Pike, then turn west to access I40 from 46th.

If you're leaving right after the game and going West, just take West End all the way to White Bridge, hook a right and get on I-40.

However, the Murphy road turn is right, so the turn lane won't be bad. Not many people outside of town know that Murphy turns to 46th and then puts you right near 40.

I'm giving premium townie advice here, people.

440W is the only thing that will be closed. 440E will still be open. They've been working on each side of the interstate and closing one or the other for the past month or so. Not sure what the hell they're doing since no new pavement has been laid, but I guess that's besides the point. You will be fine taking 65 to 40 to Broadway.
