I am curious about the defensive tackle, Damien Daniels. Anybody know much about him? I would love to see NU return to the days of a dominating and smothering defense

Kelley-Powell is an intriguing prospect. Really looked the part at camp. Thought he was a 4*? Maybe on a different site. Idk. Anyway, he and Holmes would be super!

JKP is a 4* on every single other site/service...obviously a composite 4*. I'm pretty sure Rivals issue with him is he isn't the biggest guy for a safety but he hits like a missile and is a smart player.

Its really not a secret but right now he is a pretty heavy Michigan lean (100% of the crystal balls to Michigan right now). However, the kid seems intent on going through the entire recruiting process so a lot can happen between now and when he announces. Speaking of which, if you start hearing more from his cousin Ambry Thomas that would be a sign things are heating up for you. Ambry is a 4* and probably the better prospect. Im not a believer in package deals (I think at the end of the day kids 99% do what's best for them no matter how much they say they want to play with this guy or that guy) but Thomas has said they are one...thus if JKP really starts digging NU I would assume Thomas would give you a serious look as well.

Stud DT. Could very well be getting a 4th star. Good friends with Iowa commit Chevin Calloway.

I believe his brother didn't like Okie St and may have transferred.

I am hearing that Darnay Holmes will not make the trip this weekend but there will be a big time WR that does.

Stay tuned.

Not to sure of the reason, but I have been told he has been cooling on Nebraska for a while.

WR is out of Michigan. A group and their coach are coming in from there.

I have zero inside information, but I agree about Holmes cooling on Nebraska. It seems other schools have been gaining his attention more and more than Nebraska the past couple of months.

If he has cooled, it just goes to show how fluid recruiting can be. Holmes may not be coming this weekend, but we may be getting 3 other big time recruits coming in instead. Also, there is some talk that Holmes hasn't taken his ACT/SAT yet and there is some grey area on rules of taking an official visit if you haven't tested yet.

Of everyone visiting this weekend, I think we have the best shot at nabbing Daniels and Calvin. Calvin was hot on us for quite some time (and on 247 sports we still are a heavy favorite to land him). Daniels is the #1 DT on our recruitment board, though he is currently 100% trending to Okie State, so I expect Big John and Riley to lean on him hard this weekend to get him to commit to us soon.

If we pick up nods from anyone else over the weekend, I would be happily surprised (I know very little about Graham and Redd, but hey, 4 star talent is 4 star talent). I also really like that three 4 star guys who are already committing are coming; talk about selling the program hard! Now all we have to do is beat the stuffing out of Fresno State, which shouldn't be too tough.

It's an EXCITING time to be a Husker fan!

And as far as Holmes goes, man I would love to see that level of skill in Lincoln, but all signs are pointing to him wanting to stay closer to home (UCLA, Stanford). I think there was some talk of a girlfriend, parental pressure to not go too far away, etc. Plus, kids are kids and they change their minds a lot.

I think its incredible having Foster Sarell show up. He's the #1 recruit in the country. I don't think we have a shot at him, but I think its a great sign that we're getting a guy like that to even come here for an official.

Agree and I don't think we're out of it by any means. Just that we may not be as hot with him as we have been. Also it is great to see the quality of other DB's we're looking at too just in case Holmes ends up somewhere else.

Coach Cav has been working on Sarell since his days at Oregon St so there is a really solid foundation set to get him. You're right in that we're most likely not to get him, but our coaches sure are fighting hard for him and you never know!

By my count there will be 11 players on official visits. Depending on which site ratings you use, either 9 or 10 of them will be 4 stars or above. That is a ridiculous amount of talent for an opening game. I hope Riley and crew can pull some additional commitments.

We have the #1 OL and #1 WR coming in Saturday. Awesome to see us getting these visits, but I would love to see us close on some of these huge names.

Not to sure of the reason, but I have been told he has been cooling on Nebraska for a while.

WR is out of Michigan. A group and their coach are coming in from there.

That might be better news (for NU) than DPJ attending. I've talked about Cass Tech before on this board but for those who haven't read those posts...Cass is without question the biggest producer of football talent in the state of Michigan and it is not even close. This year they boast 2 of the top 3 2017 recruits in the state and 3 of the top 10 (according to rivals). And I'd call this a so-so year for Cass. One year they had 6 senior DBs receive D1 scholarships along with a sprinkling of players at other positions.

Speaking of which, while they produce players at all positions, what they are most known for are DBs. For example, MIchigan has two former Cass players starting in its defensive backfield (including returning All American Jourdan Lewis) and Ohio State has one. I don't know if he will be a part of the group attending but if he is keep on eye on 4* Donovan Johnson. His recruitment is a bit strange as he does not hold offers from either instate school but a couple of the instate analysts, who's opinions I trust, think he is the real deal. The best they can come up with (as a reason) is he is a bit short (his listing of 5'10" is probably generous) and that Michigan and MSU feels pretty good about some taller guys they have on their board. He lists a Nebraska offer.

Back to the coach:Thomas Wilcher is the most well known HS coach in the state (he is literally the only coach in the entire state whose name I know off the top of my head) and tends to be highly involved with his kids recruitment because they trust him and he does a lot to promote his kids to programs around the country...thus why I said that it is big news if he is coming. He is a former Michigan RB (from the 80s) but has sent players as far away as LSU and Oregon and as mentioned even to tOSU...along with a DB starter, the guy replacing Ezekiel Elliot at RB (Mike Weber) is a former Cass player. Wilcher's devotion in life is to get his kids a free education and he doesn't care where that is...however, if he trusts a program's staff he will make sure his kids get exposure to them and vise versa...again, why having him on campus is a big thing...it's a long term relationship investment.

To close: a fun little bit story...a few years back your buddies in Iowa City thought they had a 4* DB from Cass wrapped up. However, a couple weeks before signing day Michigan came in, offered and flipped him. But that's not the story. The story is that Iowa then offered another kid from Detroit who was headed to the MAC. He was considered pretty much an after thought and not much of a consolation prize...his name is Desmond King.
