I need to call this young man out. He is playing at an all American level. He is literally everywhere. I questioned his effort last year, but my goodness has he turned it around. We will miss him a ton next year.
Exactly why I keep bumping my nate posts and will continue to do so until he's drafted. The stupidity of our fans for calling him overrated and lucky blows my mind. Smfh

Had a great game. But, on the long run late in the game he got stiff armed hard br clement. He makes that tackle and that run is cut short than what it originally went for. Tommy played bad, but tommy didnt lose the game. They win as a team, they lose as a team. Lots of plays that could have been made were left on the field. That one was a big one. Still had a great game tho.

Agree with this part. He's got a great knack for playing center field and getting interceptions. He's done it throughout his career. Tackling though, not his best part. Still, those interceptions tonight were clutch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he the top tackling safety in the nation this year? What is with people saying he's not a great tackler?

Cue hbk4life... need some help here.

At one point in the season(maybe 4 or 5 games in I think), he had only missed one tackle. At one time, maybe a year or two ago, he was bad at the angles he took or picked the wrong hole to shoot thru. Not anymore. He's a beast.

Nate is a guy I think is a great player. I just wish he would stop being so cocky when he does good things. he could have easily had 2 PF penalties tonight. im glad he didnt and really think he is one of the best safeties in the NCAA this year.

It's in one of my Nate all American threads, yes he is still grading out as the top tackling safety in the nation, and only trails the best safety in NU history in total tackles, so that means he's a bad tackler, ha, idiots lol

N.Gerry balled out this game no doubt. Hate the kid had to leave Camp Randall with a foul taste in his mouth after that effort.

Complete stud who makes the players around him better when he's on the field.

So Clement who is a very good back got him one time. It happens when you play a quality opponent. Jeez.
I just said we left some plays on the field. He had a great angle, timing was there, but got slammed in the turf. I know they eventually missed the fieldgoal, but the time on the clock and field position were huge factors. Hindsight, i know. But, if he makes that play, we hold at midfield with an extra minute, well.........

If Nate Gerry was worthy of PF penalties for his celebrations, than Wisconsin should gotten called for quite a few too. The way the Wisconsin guy celebrated the first interception, which was essentially a punt, you would have thought he had just sealed victory for them. He spiked the ball and danced around forever, I saw Nebraska defenders get flagged for way less earlier in the season. Then again, they weren't going to flag Wisconsin unless they were absolutely forced to.

I believe with him it has always been about the mental/emotional side of him more than physical. He was the worst NU safety in a good long while last year because he didn't give good effort and didn't buy in completely to his coaching. Hat goes off as he has been a welcome surprise as a major contributor. It is also a testament to what a proper attitude adjustment can do for you.

The part of him not buying in, you know this as fact or speculating?

Taunting is easy to get hit with. He did get beat on Ogunwale's runs also. 3 times and 3 times taken out. Riley talks about situational awareness at practice and yet he didn't recognize this scheme 3 times

He said it himself.

From Gerry after the Rutgers game:
“Everyone kind of looked each other in the eye and we decided we were going to buy in and things are going to start cooking.”

I believe he said something similar in an interview with Sharp and Benning at BT media days.

Well if you wanna be completely honest if u watched him for the last 3 years he hasn't been near the level he's playing at now.

I was one of those guys who was dissapointed in his play in the past. Loafing, horrible angles, missing tackles, etc.

But THIS year he's playing at at least an all conference level! I'll be the first to give him props when he deserves it and he definitely does. He's been a beast and I hope he continues.

BTW I've been one who has been hard on Bando as well. Allow me to say he probably layer his best game yesterday. Flying around ,sound tackling...seeing it and flying to hit someone .I think he's playing the best ball of his career right now as well and I hope him and Gerry BOTH keep it up. Our d goes to another level with those two playing at their current levels of play

I thought the defense as a group llayed one of their best games (even though this isnt a top wisky offense). That damn RB that culdnt be stopped was the killer. could not figure that play out.

Good post. Should have mentioned Banderas too. He's playing some of his best ball yet. They both finally look comfortable on the field.
