Just got a call from a friend and he was telling me that there was some talk of Oats talking with the Bucks in the NBA. As anyone else heard anything on this ?

Wouldn't surprise me.
He has probably hit his ceiling in Tuscaloosa. A good team every 3-4 years, then a hard reset where you struggle again, etc.

I expect many of these SEC coaches to get out before long. Conference got too strong too fast

Well, final four last year. Ranked #1 the year before. Beat us 3 times this past season. Oats has a massive rebuild this year but Bama won't be an easy out.
I could see the Wisconsin native, Oats, returning home for that job. I actually think his coaching style would play well in the NBA. Would not hurt to inherit a pretty darn good roster either!

I had not heard anything on this until my friend called me saying he read it somewhere. I have read that his name had been talked about with about 3 or 4 other CBB coaches that would do well in the NBA. Guess we will see.
He’s got them rolling, they will be good as long as he is there. I think some coaches want to go to the pros and prove they can do it. Maybe that’s what he’s been waiting for. He runs the most modern offense you can, but I don’t think he will get guys like a Durant to stop using his midrange game. Giannis is perfect for him because he’s 90% layups and dunks.
I would grab Philon if he stayed in college but he’s gone I believe.
I’ve always thought Oats was a future NBA coach. I’ll be surprised if he’s doesn’t accept one of the inevitable offers coming his way.
He missed his mark. By completely removing himself during Kentucky Basketball HC search. Dudes a dumbass in more ways than one. Will fit nicely in the nba. Hurley be there soon enough too. Can never have to many van gundy's. They both fit the part.
I don't know why anyone with options would deal with this insanity. I really don't.
I hope he stays another year. I would love to catch that bastard on a rebuild with a stacked roster.

This very well may be just some rumor by local guys cause it makes sense to them. And from what I'm hearing on the radio chatter here (cause of Pacers vs Bucks) it doesn't sound like the Bucks are in great shape looking towards the future. Sounds more like wishful thinking by the locals than an actual possibility to me. But who knows anymore?
Ultimately, I see Oats, Golden, and Hurley all taking NBA jobs over the next few years.

I like that kid Diabate for them. I think he could bring a lot to a Pope coached team... great defender/rebounder, ugly but effective 3 pt shooter...

Yeah i think the Bucks are heading for a big drop off, even if they find a way to retain Giannis... I think their window has closed, and a small market team like that, just doesn't attract talent. Nate Oats would be coaching for his job every single year.

True or not some of reporters like the KSR folks said he was off the UK search list by UK. Coaches just remove themselves when they know they aren’t in play for the job.
Makes sense think he's tailored made for the NBA. He's got the charisma and look of a glorified babysitter

Dude has finished the season ranked in the top 6 in 4 of his 5 last years in Bama. If that's a good team every 3 or 4 years, I'll take that.

I'm know where near a insider but I happen to have posted, back during the search, that some major donors commented that they had to present to the fan base they were after certain coaches or public reactions would be difficult. I think you'd probably be very surprised how quickly Mark Pope was contacted.
But the NBA is no walk in the park dealing with all of the pre-madonnas and weak owners. Six of one half dozen of the other these days IMO.
Alabama is probably looking at Ohio State football and the other programs that showed out last season and wants to get back to that glory.
In the nba at least you can lock guys down for more than a year. Idk how anyone deals with these every year.
