Oats' buyout is insane. It's going to affect wherever he goes. It "drops" from 18m to 10m April 2.

That's why there was very little UK rumblings. It was prohibitively expensive to even consider.

Nate oats is garbage tho. He'll sell his soul to win.

Played a kid implicated in murder, then this year put a professional on his team
And? That’s who I want here. Enough with these church loving choir boys. I want the guy who will do whatever it takes to win #9.

I want Oates more than anyone in the country outside of Hurley. He’s an awesome coach, his style is awesome and he will kick you in the balls and walk over you to win. If he were here the fanbase would love him.

Hell, i'm 10x the coach Pope is, you aren't setting a very high bar.
People get a hard time on here for making such comments but I agree. I would have coached my *** off today, hell I did just watching it and screaming at the TV. I think 25% of the posters on this board could have given a better coaching effort than we saw today. Truly one of the worst I have ever seen. Pope needs his *** kicked. That was just embarrassing.

That's right the second he was hired everyone would like him and whatever **** happened in the past wouldn't matter

I mean really there's a bunch of there

Golden, Oats, May, Hurley, Few.......there's a ton of good coaches out there that would kill it here.
Hurley is a great coach but man he is a horrible human being. He's the type that would lose the fan base in record time.

I don't know.

Ultimately fans put up with a lot of crap so long as they win ballgames.

People hated things Cal said/did for awhile and he wasn't even a bad guy. But he won ballgames so people were on board with it (least for the first 10 years or so lol)

No, he doesn’t go to church enough for Mitch to make a serious run at him.

Pope's going to crush it in recruiting this spring. He's got a new pirate gimmick that he's going to be rolling out.

What's up with the squint tho seriously? He's a medical student he should give us a update on that. Does he need glasses or have some kind of eye problem? If so I'll forget he does it. But to squint constantly without any problem is odd

Remember when he called some of the fan base Basketball Bennies? And when he first said he was here to get kids into the NBA and Championships didn't matter. Boy howdy those comments didn't sit well. I could envision Hurley spouting off much worse things. As far as publicity, I would hope UK fans would be more embarrassed than UConn's over the way he conducts himself.

I dunno.
Is he an *******? Probably yes just based on the way he conducts himself.

But I can't help but think he's that guy........where you absolutely hate him if he's sitting on the other bench but absolutely love him when he's on your end. One thing is for certain........dude is obsessed with winning.

Obsessed is 100% fact. I cannot argue that. He's Bobby Knight reincarnated.

I don’t care what it costs, our program will die if we miss on the next coach. We are paying Barnhart to sit in the corner after retirement. That buyout is the cost of business.
