Nationals should be at the end of the year so each team has well trained wreastlers at all 10 weights. This is esp. important for Freshmen. And there is the problem. 2 majors: Team Nationals and Nationals for the best at each weight. How to make this work?
The way to make that work is to not touch the money making golden goose. Then for all of the dual enthusiasts. Tell Richison thank-you, do what needs done to keep him involved and by golly every one of the dual enthusiasts need to get their rear-ends in those Tulsa seats. Staying home and posting about the need for a dual championship on a message board isn't doing your part.

Zack Ryder (OKST) vs. Angelo Ferrari (Iowa)

Period 1:
Ferrari starts on 1-knee. Ryder gives it a try too. Circling, tapping & hand fighting on 1-knee, then back to their feet. Ferrari on 1-knee in the center. Ryder circling around him. Tying up & circling now. Ferrari back to 1-knee in the center. Back to their feet. Tying up for a bit. Ferrari goes back to 1-knee. Ryder shoots, but Ferrari down blocks him off. Circling, Ferrari working an underhook on the edge & then they work back to center. Stoppage for something. Tying up & hand fighting on their feet. Ryder looks for an underhook, but no luck. Ferrari goes back to 1-knee, then comes to his feet & throws in an underhook, but time expires. 0-0

Period 2:
Ryder takes down. He works to his feet. Ferrari drops to a leg & elevates it & they go out of bounds. Ryder is still down. Ryder works back to his feet, then sits out & spins for the escape, 1-0. Ferrari immediately picks an ankle & quickly finishes the TD, 3-1. Out of bounds & restart. Ryder starts down. He works up, then rolls & gets the escape, 3-2. Ferrari goes back to 1-knee, then comes up to his feet. They tie-up. Ryder presses forward, taking Ferrari to the edge. Ferrari circles back to center. Ferrari presses forward now. He has Ryder on the edge. Tying up & hand fighting to end the period. 3-2 Ferrari

Period 3:
Ferrari takes down. Ryder tries to throw a boot in. Ferrari fights it off & works to his feet. Ryder elevates the leg. He has Ferrari bouncing on 1-leg & tries a trip, but his leg is too short to reach Ferrari's other leg. Out of bounds & restart. Ferrari is still down. He works to a quadpod, but Ryder grabs an ankle & trips him back to the mat. Ryder throws in a boot. Stoppage & Ryder gets warned for hanging on the leg. Ferrari works to his feet, gets hand control & the escape, 4-2. Ryder pushes forward & has Ferrari on the edge, but is just pushing. Ferrari reverses position & reaches for a leg, but they go out of bounds. Ryder throws in an underhook & pushes forward. He tries a straight on shot & Ferrari blocks him off. Ryder pushes forward & Ferrari throws him by & out of bounds, restart. Ryder pushes forward & takes another straight on shot. Ferrari circles away. Ryder pushes forward again, but Ferrari easily fights him off for the 4-2 win.

Ryder isn't very dynamic on offensive. He's really good at pushing opponents across the mat with his underhook, but he wasn't able to do anything with that against Ferrari. I never noticed the short arms before the T-rex jokes. That's gold! Ankle picking with short arms is a real challenge. After watching Rocco & Ryder wrestle, I think we got the better guy. Rocco appears to have a more diverse offensive toolkit & a greater reaching ability.

Angelo Ferrari DEC Zack Ryder 4-2

Penn state really won national duals , Luke will be # 1 now after both guys in front of him and the guy after him in the ranking all beat each other. Rocco should be #1 unless they jump him with Angelo. Tom Ryan probably thinks he has a legit a chance this season now so it’ll be even sweeter beating them by 20 + .Manning might need to pipe down after the savage beating they took in the semis so we can quiet down that hype train that’s been way too loud since march. Facundo and Ryder have looked like R12 guys. Pretty good weekend

For all the criticism, including yours truly, this event provides the best super interesting matchups, in volume, of any tourney until conferences. Admit it the Black Knight and Soldier Solute just don't cut it.
Absolutely. I just think a properly filled out CKLV and Scuffle are better than an early season smattering of blowout duals peppered with intriguing matchups and upsets. Wish the focus was on that instead

Overall I like this event and I’m also completely fine with PSU not going. I just love to watch good wrestling and there has been a lot of it this weekend. If they dropped the dual national championships angle I’d get behind it even more. Either way there have been a ton of incredible matches which has been fun to watch

I hope that happens, but extremely doubtful. Lockett is going to be a challenge for anyone to score on, be happy with a win.
Not likely he's trouble for Mitch, but good luck with that take. Lockett would be well-served to be humbled over and over again. It make take some of that thing we don't like out of him. I have a feeling I'm going to dislike a lot of DT's wrestlers and it's making me dislike the Magic Man. I didn't like Robideau's histrionics the other night either. I hope PJ takes some of that out of him by smearing him across the mat.

Silas Allred (NEB) dec Zack Ryder (OHST) 5-2 (SV1)

Not a lot of action in this match. Ryder looked very strong & can push anyone around the mat with his underhook, but he couldn't generate any takedowns with it. Most of his shots were straight-on without much set-up. Allred didn't shoot much either & it was 0-0 after the 1st.

Allred took down in the 2nd & got a reversal, 2-0. Ryder got an escape, 2-1, but that was it for scoring. Ryder took down in the 3rd & got an escape, 2-2, but there was no more scoring after that & the period ended 2-2. Allred got to a leg early in SV & was able to finish the takedown for the win. That was the best shot in the entire match.
