I don't think Montini/Naz is a good idea. The schools are not far apart but with Montini being in the CCL and Naz in the ESCC it gives incoming Freshman a choice of which conference they want to play in and what teams they want to play against.

Look at your CCL chest thumping. Funny from a fan of the "new guy" who was in the SCC at that time and refuses to join the Blue although by far the best match. The CCL and ESCC are both just fine without each other's inclusion. Not everything needs to be a super conference.

The idea of a Montini Nazareth series is intriguing. I don't understand why Epic did not consider Montini on his quest for a rival.

I have no idea why Montini and Nazareth do not play each other in football. Montini is approx. 5 miles away from Nazareth. My recollection, which may be faulty, is that the last time Montini played Nazareth in football was in 1995. In the fall of 1995 Montini's freshman played Nazareth's freshman at Nazareth on a weekday. I do not recall Montini playing Nazareth in a Varsity game.

I don't want to put it on Naz, but the only clue as to why Montini-Nazareth do not play is Coach Racki's philosophy on non-conference games as stated in the interview he gave Edgy Tim prior to the 2014 season. It is certainly possible that Montini does not want to play Naz.

I think Montini would play Naz but they only get two non-con games and I think they would prefer to leave those to playing 7A, 8A schools or long road trips for team bonding (SHG, East St Louis).

Does it really matter if you call it a rivalry? They do play every year, and for the last few years, JC and Naz have been the teams to beat in the ESCC. So weather or not you want to call it a rivalry, it is a pretty big game for both teams each year.
