Pistons trade Billups (and others to make the $$$ right) for Iverson. Thoughts?

Denver. Don't like it for Detroit.

Between Carmelo, Kenyon, and JR, Denver has plenty of scoring options without AI. They needed someone that's a better point guard than a scorer and they got that with Chauncey. Billups is also automatic down the stretch at the FT stripe which is invaluable.

For Detroit, I don't know about it. They may not have had the pieces to contend with Boston, but I don't see AI as the answer. No pun intended.

I'm now hearing that the deal is done. AI for Chauncey and McDyess

AI is a scorer. He plays point, but he's not really a point. It'll be good for Carmelo to play with an experienced guard like Billups, who while he can score, he definitely fits the point guard role more than AI. He's also a better defender than AI. AI is a good defender for his size, but not near Billups in that regard. McDyess also gives them some toughness in the paint.

For Detroit, it gives them an offensive threat that should ease up the defense on Rip Hamilton. It also gives them more minutes to give to Stuckey at the point. Not to mention AI's contract expires this year, so if it doesn't work out, they can go in another direction with a lot of money next year.

stuckey getting more PT at the point and freeing up cash for next year than anything else. stuckey is an emerging star, and this move will allow them to find another young talent to pair with stuckey for a long time.
