Watching first NBA game since Larry Bird days. Spurs vs OKC.
Well you picked a good one to start off with. I can’t promise you won’t throw the tv remote with all the foul calls Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets. Damn foul merchant.

This week I heard on a sports show that OKC has led by more than 20 points more minutes than they have trailed by any amount. Figured I would check it out.

Seriously a few years ago someone at work told me OKC was in the playoffs. I said OKC? I didn’t even know they had a team. And I used to watch every NBA game that came on TV. Haven’t seen one in forever.

Basically it's just scrimmage target practice and no defense.

Ok so what pro sport is the same as it was in the 80s. The game evolves with better skill sets.
That is true. The metrics that cause the "3 point first" makes the game a spread out game and many missed shots. Watching all players miss 2 out of 3 of their 3 point shots really just is not enjoyable to me. It reminds me of just messing around in the gym. 33% is elite NBA, I understand. Curry shoots 42% and is better to watch, especially when he takes over a game on a hot streak. Just my humble opinion. Not into watching spread out target practice (my grumpy old man term).

I've learned over the years to never make a negative observation about the NBA on this message board.

Metrics have hurt pro basketball and baseball most of all. It’s now proven that the best way to play both sports is to make it boring. And that’s fine, as it’s just a production anyway to make money. Ie for people to have something to do.

Football is different in this way.

I'll add this for my dear friend old blue balls. Going to an NBA game in person is very enjoyable. Energy is fun and electric. Similar to hockey games in person.

33% from deep is not elite in the NBA. It isn't even average!
Haha, rough.

The average has been in the 35-36% range this entire century.

It’s been a while, but feels like my Spurs are finally back
As a Grizz fan, I’m extremely jealous of teams like the Spurs, Thunder, Pistons. Rockets, and Magic.

They’re all on a path that Memphis would also be on if we had a competent front office
