Sounds like a great opportunity to sell some BBQ Chicken plates to raise money for the program.

All the more reason for Bianco to start getting nervous

1700 tickets for a regional tournament...Ole Miss and State would feel like they're playing a fall intra squad game.

Firing Bianco would be a horrible PR move by Ole Miss. I just don't see it happening.

Why would the number of tickets NC State sells for a regional have anything to do with Bianco? He's a #2 seed for a regional. That's a pretty good season by almost anyone's standards. Be careful what you wish for. If you get it, it may not turn out the way you think it will.

I should have explained what I meant

Bianco, with his salary, facilities, support from th university and fans, is slipping further and further way from where someone in his position should have his program. The 1700 ticket sales for a regional tournament simply highlights that. Ole Miss and State sell more than that for a midweek game against Austin Peay.

Im not advocating firing or keeping the best coach in the program's history, but there is a reason why people feel the goodwill he has built up is running out.

I don't either

And like I said, I'm not pushing an agenda. It's a tough situation for Bjork. I don't envy the decisions he has to make regarding our baseball program. It is incredibly complicated right now, and may be for a few years.

Right now, it's a pretty damn simple decision. Bjork would be an idiot to even consider firing him.

Right now, I tend to agree

But he gets paid a lot of money. The kind of money that expects results. At someoint he is going to have to produce those results. Ole Miss fans get tired of seeing programs with so much less invested in their program make it to Omaha every year. I think anyone can understand that sentiment.

I don't know how it's a tough situation for Bjork. Historically, your program has been in the top 50 in the nation. You had a stretch of 6 years where you hosted 5 regionals and had several outstanding recruiting classes. The teams success complimented that. Because of the brief success, you fan's expectations for the program were astronomically higher than they should be. Completely typical for Ole Miss expectations. Bianco took you from top 50 to top 20 and you should be happy for that. If anybody, WE are the fan base that should be unhappy with mediocrity. We are historically a top 10 program and it was not just brief success like you had. He would be an idiot to fire Bianco.

Part of what you say I understand

State fans are more used to expectations for your baseball team than Ole Miss. But that doesn't mean that because we made significant strides, in not only on field performance, facility upgrades, outbidding LSU of all schools for Bianco, top 5 in attendance, that we should now settle for, "well 20 years ago, we'd be happy with this." Like any other successful organization, you can be happy you've gotten better, but settling and saying this is as good as it can get for us is asinine.

Are y'all happy with the success your football team has had the last few years, Gator Bowls? Now just level off and be happy with Whatyou have and not hope/expect more?

We might have been a top 10 program from 1979 - 1990. Even then, we weren't in the same league as a lot of the real baseball powers (Fullerton, Texas, Miami), but were probably in the lower part of the top 10. But we haven't been anywhere near a top 10 program since 1990, or before 1979.
