The scuttle here in Wolfpack country is that Dave's in the same position this year as last (and the year before and the year before, etc.) - make a bowl game = stay; miss a bowl game = gone. I don't think any sane NC State backer thinks they will compete for the conf title or the playoffs.

I suppose he’s only marginally better than the coach he replaced, who was fired after 3 straight bowl seasons.
But it seems like you could do a lot worse than 11 bowls in 13 years and 5 8-win seasons in the last 6 years.
It's the ACC, and he couldn't leave and win ****. Dan left and won everywhere so far.

I was impressed with how inept NC State's offensive line played. To be that bad you have to really work at it.

He was almost hired by the Bears after Freezus, but instead decided to keep Luke. What might have been?

I’m convinced now that firing to hire is no longer the greatest financial decision and the talent pool in the head coach world will never be what it was in the late nineties into the mid 2k’s.

When you fire a coach that consistently wins 8 games a year, the odds the next coach can do the same thing are pretty slim.
