Folks, UNC's punishment is coming this spring. To recap, the NCAA presented its Notice of Allegations to the school months ago, with FIVE Level One infractions including Lack of Institutional Control. The charges involved men's BB, FB, women's BB, and other "Olympic" sports. UNC released a heavily redacted version of that NOA. The NCAA Committee on Infractions now has the case, and will present its punishment this spring. Word is the COI is going to hit the Heels hard.

The Kansas connection is interesting. The whole fake class scheme was developed in the Dean Smith years at UNC, but its origins are rumored to have been rooted in Kansas. Smith graduated from and played at Kansas. Roy Williams coached there, as did Brown. Brown played for Smith at UNC, as did Williams, who was also an assistant under Smith. Former UNC athletic support program head, Wayne Walden was instrumental in the fake class scheme; he came from Kansas, brought to UNC by Williams, whose program greatly profited from cheating.

I was just thinking today about the possibilities the NCAA sanctions RU for floodgate. It would seem to be minor but in could see us getting some kind of penalty.

That makes Larry Brown a perfect 3 for 3.

Not surprisingly, a UNC grad. That school is dirty. I have serious doubts UNC will receive any real punishment. Certainly nothing to equate to the wins they amounted through ineligible athletes.

Don't expect hear much from ESPN about UNC. A side from the acc being an ESPN product, I believe their President went to UNC.

Gotta respect how they all rally around the school though. Rutgers could learn something.

Oliver Luck is the NCAA's new "enforcer" and has some history with ACC commish Swofford, who was less than gracious when West Virginia engaged the ACC about potential membership. Luck was WVU's AD at that time. Swoffy was AD at UNC was the fake class scheme began in the Dean Smith era.

And UNC grad Mr. Skipper has fallen out of favor at Disney, the parent company of ESPN, which is losing much $, going thru cuts and layoffs. Skip's days are numbered. Disney owns 80% of ESPN.

It's a small world, afterall. . . .

I will believe it when I see it. Outside of USC, who was openly taunting the NCAA, and rightfully so, has any brand name school ever got what they deserved?

Lotus,
You mentioned Gary Waters (currently at Cleveland State). YEARS ago, when we were in the Eastern Eight/Atlantic Ten, Cleveland State was supposed to become a member, but something happened and they never joined. Does anyone remember what was the reason? I have totally forgotten.

Easy with dissing The UNC grads. I know a bright one who made a great decision a few years back. Welcomed RU into The B1G with open arms.

Yeah. Personally I would not "slam" all UNC grads, my family members included, just those in the UNC admin and athletic admin and in booster roles who are deserving of being slammed for their roles, great and small.

UNC alum seem worn out by the scandal. Some acknowledge the misdeeds and are embarrassed by it. Some still will not openly admit to the scandal "accusations." They all want to "move forward," though.

As for non-alum "fans," most I've encountered seem ignorant of the facts and the extent of the violations. They just wear their fan gear and say "All schools do it." You can't convince them otherwise, of course, nor should you try.

As for Delany, he's a native New Jerseyan, albeit a UNC grad. He knows the NY/NJ market and the future $ involved with bringing RU into the B1G fold, versus losing those $ to another conference. It's business, not personal.
