NCAA seeding math should've went like this:I truly don't understand how Davino didn't get number 1 seed. Wrestled a full schedule including National duals and Big 10. Redeemed his only loss to the Number 1 ranked guy in country. I don't see where Forrest resume is near Davino's. Please explain
- H2H (25%): tied
- Quality Wins (20%): 15-5 for Davino, who beat more NQs and generally higher-ranked ones
- Coaches Rank (15%): 15-0 for Davino (3 vs 4)
- Conf Finish (10%): tied
- Common Opponents (10%): tied
- Win % (10%): Forrest 10-0
- RPI (10%): Davino 10-0
--> Davino +25
BUT: revised Coaches Rank was not made public after conference tourneys. Forrest would've gotten the 1 if he were higher ranked.
ALSO: if the Coaches Poll weren't re-done, then Blaze also beats Forrest +15. (Only change to above is Conf Finish 10-0 to Forrest.)
AND: Blaze vs Seidel is in the same bucket. Blaze wins based on public data, but Seidel wins if ranked higher and his newly acquired RPI were higher.
So just like B10 seeding, lack of transparency is the issue.
If those 4 really were more or less tied with each other, then Davino got additionally hosed by the ISU 133 situation. He beat Frost in the dual. Forrest beat then-backup Grice in the dual.
Makes sense to me! Also, JTS’s Uncle was 1-0 vs Davino/Blaze/JTS. Davino & Blaze were 1-1 and JTS was 0-1 against the same group. I guess JTS’s uncle should be seeded above Blaze and Davino. Math don’t lie.
Coaches rank is now 10 and conference finish 15. That's the old formula . Jax was #1 in new coaches poll and Davino #2. They should release them but haven't
I'm not disputing you, but those breakdowns are in the file I downloaded from the NCAA website 1 month ago.
So again, transparency.

Exactly…couldn’t figure out what Luke was doing when he picked Peterson up and started walking directly to the out of bounds line, and then forcefully put him back on the mat. The move looked so out of place at the moment. And then I remembered how Peterson acted and what he posted online (F You Penn State) after beating Luke at Rutgers match last year…. made me wonder if it wasn’t a little payback.

yeah, SVN will be favored against everyone he faces. He's earned that. But I don't have the best feeling about him and haven't thought about this too much. Just wanted to get the brackets filled out first.

Oh, I know. But I am not the one saying otherwise a few weeks ago.
133 #1 was the committee. Not sure the other situations they got involved. Overall they did a good job with the seeds

You clarified that rankings are data-driven (and debated me a little when I said rankings are human-driven), lacking human element, but seedings "always have a human element".
The human element here was... The Coach's Ranking which didn't use data at all, jumping a wrestler at 133 over another with no new data.
It's all just feels in the end, with data being something we like to use to sound informed.
