Leaves little doubt which school is THE school in Mississippi.

Also reminds me what I did not like about growing up in South Mississippi. Damn LSU and Bama band wagoners.

south mississippi needs to get it together. overall, i would say the map pretty much nailed it. essentially, om is the auburn of alabama with a discernible stronghold of lafayette county and a buffer county or two radius. i was a bit surprised about nashville's lack of vandy love....well, modest surprise.

also, lee county is still bulldog country.

I grew up in Corinth. My family still lives there and I can tell you that this feels pretty accurate now when I visit. It's an even 50/50 before the sidewalk fans.

Pre-Jackie, it was pretty heavily pro-Rebel. Until high school, I always felt like I was in the minority.

Also, you can tell the sidewalk fans in North Mississippi, because today they claim Bama and Auburn, but if they took this poll in the 80's and 90's, the answer would have been Tennessee or one of the Florida schools.

I can also vouch for the Texas/Texas A&M split in Dallas-Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. For a lot of these idiots, Texas is the default and then it's a split between A&M, OU, and TCU. I was a little surprised to see Houston go so heavy for Texas, though. A lot of the A&M fans around here (my wife and in-laws included) feel like Houston is an A&M stronghold.

Here in DFW, it's a huge Texas Longhorn contingent. In the Fort Worth area, TCU has a surprisingly large fan base. Texas A&M and Baylor are surprisingly low on the totem pole.

I disagree, Mutt. That map is so wrong, it's ridiculous, especially for Texas. North Texas is more Oklahoma "fans" than the Longhorns. And A&M isn't even listed, but I see almost as many of their fans as I do the T-sips. And what really blows me a way, to show how wrong that map is, is the number of Texas Tech fans in north Texas. They alone outnumber the Aggies and challenge the OU ones.

If that map represented gas station team apparel, then yes, it is fairly accurate for Texas.

Oh, I didn't realize both of you were out here too.

I've been here about 12 years and I don't believe what you're seeing is necessarily a matter of parity so much as right now, with the past 3 years, Aggies are suddenly a lot more vocal and Texas fans are a lot more muted. Texas is still the 'default' for many people here, especially those with more of a passing interest in college football.

Also remember, this map was created using estimates of team support based on each team’s share of Facebook “likes” in a ZIP code. Texas has 1.6 million like and A&M has about 500,000.

State has about 115,000 and Mississippi has about 43,000.

Why doesn't OM have presence in Texas and Georgia for those fans who couldn't get into UT or UGA?**
