so Oregon loses 1 scholly a year for 3 years (3 total)

loss of x schollies and 3 years probation. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

and we lose 2 schollys a year for 2 years (4 total) . This is asinine. They are flat out busted with the recruitment of Sistrunk and payments are made to a 7-on-7 coach in Texas for thousands of dollars by THE UNIVERSITY for "recruiting footage". We have a wannabe hot shot alumni that gives a hundred dollar handshake we are penalized worse than Oregon? The NCAA should just stop policing now. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason for their sanctions

Actually there is quite a bit of rhyme and reasons to their sanctions. Oregon is a viable NC contender for a BCS conference. Therefore, they have a different set of rules. We, on the other hand, are not a viable NC contender for a BCS conference so they come down on us like a shoe on a roach. All you gotta do is follow the $$$. If you can make a butt load of it then the NCAA will look the other way.

Has the NCAA come out congratulating their compliance dept on a job well done yet?**

Failed Starkville highschool coach = compliance director at MSU.
Head of NCAA Enforcement Committee for years = compliance director at Auburn.

You tell me who is going to do better in this department...

Time for an alum to foot the bill on a top notch compliance director. We probably over self-imposed penalties and the ncaa probably giggled to themselves and then looked up at us and said, "yeah that works."

Yes. Agreed.

On top of all this, WE screwed Redmond and thus ourselves. Had we been as prepared in the same vein as other compliance departments in our conference are, that would have NEVER made news nor an infractions committee -- and he'd be battling for a starting spot week one, while likely playing last year as well.

False. We have a wannabe hot shot alumni who sold a $6000 car for $4000. One of our boosters accepted money from a recruit and we get raw dogged. Oregon pays $25,000 to a "recruiting service" to hand deliver players and they get a slap on the wrist.

I don't believe it's entirely because they compete for national championships and we don't. I think it has everything to do with our compliance department.

From what I read, Oregon self-imposed these penalties. NCAA shot back an offer where they could keep their schollys and everything else and just sit out a bowl game, but that was denied... obviously.

Why can't Whit Waide be our compliance guy? How much does a compliance guy actually work? There is occasionally a mishap but other than that it's routine, run of the mill stuff. The big stuff is usually addressed in the summer months when he could decide not to teach a course.
