Dante Dowdell, of Picayune, is heading to his 4th stop in 4 years. I guess it's smart. He gets 4 good pay days, I assume, before he starts his career as an insurance salesman or whatever.

Guys like TJ Finley, who transfer every year, aren't going to get a college degree. They probably barely go to class. So when they are done playing, they have no degree to fall back on. They also aren't part of an alumni base that they can be a part of and will help them out, because no school will actually claim them. I can't imagine TJ Finley is getting much money from NIL at Incarnate Word or Georgia State or Western Kentucky, and what NIL money he does get, he will probably blow through. So once he's done playing after next year, he has no college degree, no alumni base to be a part of, and most likely not much money. And he's got the rest of his life to go. The system just feeds into the cycle of poverty. For every poor athlete who uses his college opportunity to better himself and his family, there are probably 10-20 who just blow the NIL money, don't get a degree, and are right back in the same situation they was in before they went to play in college.

Not bad for a guy who has been a pretty mediocre player his first 3 years. But who knows, if he can get playing time at Georgia he might have a breakout season.

This is part of Calipari’s rant last week. Alumni used to take care of former players. That’s not going to happen with these transfer every year guys.
