This may already have been discussed, but considering that today we won our 29th game and are 11 games over .500, while having an RPI in Boydsworld of 28th, don't you feel fairly good about our regional chances unless we just **** the bed? I mean, I understand the effort and discussion to get us in the SEC Tourney as I know that the 8 seeds there are pretty much locks for regional play. However, I would think it's pretty likely at this point that whichever team is 9th and left out is probably looking at an at large bid based on RPI, overall record, SEC strength, etc. Understandably we want to go to Hoover, but what does everything think needs to happen for us to possibly sew up an NCAA berth. I'm sure some think we have to go to Hoover to do so, but I think we can get in a Regional even if we miss Hoover. I just don't want to have to sweat it. I think if we go 3-3 in our last 6, and even if that somehow eliminated us from Hoover, we would still get a bid to a regional. Thoughts?

6-4 to stay in the top 32 rpi. This would have been before today's game and obviously before we found out about ditching one of the games against Valley on Tue. I would assume now that required finish would be 4-4 over the last 8 remaining games. Of course, this is pretty speculative at this point and I have no idea how accurate his info may be with regard to what everyone has to do to stay in any particular rpi range. But it does make for interesting conversation at this point in the season.

to host a regional, we're going to have to beat Valley and Memphis, and then probably go no worse than 5-1 against Ole Miss and LSU to even have a chance. And even then, I'm not sure if that would be enough. We might have to go on a run in the SEC Tournament.

We do have some things going for us- I know that we're going to put in a great bid, and we have a great history of hosting regionals and drawing big crowds.

If the prognosticators are right- USM hosting would not be in our favor if the committee really wants to give them a host site. I don't think they would put two host sites in Mississippi, but I could be wrong about that.

I think there is an outside shot (about 10%) that we could host as a 2 seed with USM being the 1 seed. If that happens, it would be solely because we outbid them and because of our history.

I don't see any way we host, unless we win out and make a run in Hoover. And that won't happen. Right now, I just want to make it to Hoover and maybe go to Hattiesburg. That would be pretty cool.

is that every time I went to a MSU/USM game there, they would price gouge the tickets to something like 30 bucks for general admission. I don't know that the NCAA will let them do that though.

Well, that and they tried to arrest Ron Polk for argueing with an umpire. I still think it's funny that when the rent-a-cop went out there and told Polk that she was going to arrest him, Polk holds his hands out so that she could put the cuffs on and goes, "well let's go". Maybe Polk was more kinky that we all thought.

Assuming wins over Memphis and Miss Valley, a 2-4 finish the next two weekend would mean making a regional

A 7-1 finish (maybe 6-2) plus two wins in Hoover would mean hosting a regional ... obviously, one of the Hoover wins needs to include Florida, USC or Vanderbilt
