NCAA screws us again

Meh...what's another nail or two in our NCAA coffin matter at this point? Actually glad the "extortion" violations are being woven into our overall case. Means, UNLESS we screw up yet again while already facing sanctions, we may finally get to hear our punishment (in 2022) and begin to move out from under the deep dark NCAA cloud.
The thing I'm confused about is if there's more to the Chris Mack thing than we've seen publicly? The President's office is not happy with him at the moment and him being added to this makes me wonder if they want him gone without paying his buyout?
Basically by recording the conversation he has an audio record admitting we had violations.
His contract says he can be terminated with cause with Level 2 violation so if the school isn’t happy with him they could potentially move on pretty easily.
Bottom line is that we should’ve been doing everything by the book. Mack wasn’t. And he should’ve let HR professionals handle HR stuff. Mack didn’t.
If they want him out THEY BETTER HAVE A CANT MISS OPTION imop i can't see one. All i'm going too say is enjoy this season as much as you can . I feel this might be the last time we see this BB program as we know of it being a top program for a while. I fear with the new transfer rules we are going to lose alot 2022 because of this crap.

So yeah here's the thing... yeah... fans need to try to consider the possibility that this program is about to get absolutely destroyed by the NCAA and could potentially be staring at unforeseen awful times for years.
There isn't some can't miss HC hire option on the horizon any time soon. Post season bans, scholarship reductions, etc. There isn't a can't miss option walking into that. They probably need to shift gears and try to land a won't break the rules option and try to start over.

UL’s self-reporting is at the center of this most recent NCAA decision to charge UL a with more violations. Most schools have been more successful taking the position that ”if you think we did something wrong, you need to perform your own investigation and identify the violations”.
On one hand, there was a time when I appreciated the well-intentioned folks in our Administration being so aggressive in conducting internal investigations, but it should be evident by now that NCAA‘s Committee on Infractions gives absolutely no consideration to identifying our own violations.
Regrettably, we have all witnessed the incredibly poor judgement exercised by this Administration when they relied on expensive local lawyers to pursue damages against Dr Ramsey, an exercise that accomplished absolutely nothing beyond the enrichment of a large law firm.

Wrong. If he is guilty of Level 2 violations, he should be punished appropriately regardless of who might be available. This notion that nobody wants to coach at a top level institution with our facilities is ridiculous.
This.kind.of stuff is.part of the.reason college basketball has lost its appeal for me.

I just think in Mack's case which would be no different than most any coach that would had been in his position. The pressure to put a good product on the floor without being able to get the players he really wanted brought him to a point of neglecting some rules. And the terrible way he handle that Dino situation has bit him in the arse. However the way the NCAA is attempting too handle us is not consistent.
I'm 61 years old and I've been a UofL fan my whole life but man it's getting harder and harder to support the program, we just can't seem to get out of our own way. I know this isn't going to sit well with a lot of you and I'm not trying to stir the pot but it's past embarrassing and I really don't have much confidence in the leadership going forward at this point.
For whatever reason all of this negativity surrounds our MBB program. I choose to focus on FB, WBB, and baseball. None of which have had any issues.
Not entirely true. Our fan base is still deciding whether CSS is our future. WBB has been on the threshold now but I don’t think satisfaction will come unless we win a NCAAT championship. Baseball failed to make postseason this past year.
NCFan: the situation with UL sports is not as dismal as you may be suggesting. While the men’s basketball program is clearly “off the rails” right now and the foreseeable future, the FB and Baseball Programs were both affected by the interruptions associated with Covid.
Covid affected everyone to some degree, but it affected some programs differently. The SEC baseball is traditionally strong, but survived the 2020 season better than most schools based on the more relaxed social distancing in the southern states, and particularly with their campuses in primarily rural communities, as compared to higher populated urban cities like Louisville. UL‘s preseason baseball and Spring workouts according to Dan were significantly impacted and he believed they contributed to its unusually poor performance …….. the men’s BB and FB programs were also adversely affected more than most based on the interrupted regular season games that were cancelled.

UofL has screwed up again. I originally thought CM decision making was due to covid sucks. No, he was doing questionable things from the moment he got here. And his boss, made this hire, oversaw this BB operation, and it also responsible for this failure of not following protocol.

Mitigating circumstances should apply with how Covid effected teams last year. The Mack staff has nothing to do with the prior violations and should be looked at separately, but the NCAA has chosen to make UofL it's example.

That won’t fly. Mack took this job on the understanding it had to be squeaky clean. All eyes were on us.
It was what turned out to be a bad move by a head coach trying to handle what he perceived a personal issue on his own. Should he have known better???Maybe. It does feel like whatever the NCAA is today they are holding a door open far too long hoping Louisville will trip again.

Sounds good but in reality is we won’t find a decent coach that will step into this mess until it’s resolved. And any coach that does will have recruiting issues and our fan base won’t be patient as we’ve proven with Mack and Satt to this point. Although it’s looking as Mack might have to go. I find it strange that every other sport seems to be doing fine, but once again it’s our MBB program.
As for Vince I would have to see how he handles this, but first indication was he defended Mack and fought to keep him. That’s the same move Jurich did. But it appears we’re at the zero tolerance for ADs too. Will have a hard time finding a quality AD too. Who wants to work under a zero tolerance policy when your over seeing such a large program. Tom got three passes, two to many. We need to think long and hard before jumping because when the AD goes it effects every sport and it’s only been a short time ago that we replaced Tom. Might be warranted but I wouldn’t make rush to that conclusion. It’s just more instability and we can’t continue down that road.
IMOP their is not one MAJOR athletic program that is running 100 percent without some type of violation within it's Major sports teams. Ad's know this and cannot run a huge athletic successful department with a zero tolerance policy be completely followed to a tee. You would be hiring and firing coaches yearly. Lets face it alot of those NCAA rules are plain stupid. And the schools that are closer to 100 percent are the losing ones. No way Duke,UK,NC ,KS ,U of L,Tx etc types could run a clean program and still be what they are. Our problem we just get caught all the time with bad chea.ters
All of our jobs have rules and policies and i sure the hell don't follow them . And i'm management. I can talk a big talk to my subs about doing the right thing till i'm blue in the face and guess what they going to do what it takes for them to be successful doing their job. Just as i also do for myself.

We can talk about how minor the new violations are all we want (and they are minor, come on a recruiting video and grad assistants attending practice?), but Louisville is on probation and that's not good. If the AD wants to FARRRR that sonofabeyitch, here's his ticket to do it for free and get out of the buyout - but this isn't a good idea at all IMO.
Minor violations are MAJOR violations if your employment contract says you can be dismissed with cause if you commit them.
I may not live to see it, but the NCAA is counter-productive to the future of major college athletics, and needs to step away from the FBS (Division 1) conference schools, as the conferences and the schools themselves are far better equipped to establish rules and administer discipline. The recent Supreme Court ruling opened up the pathway for eliminating the NCAA. It is time for the P5 conferences to initiate their departure now, as the moment is already there.

Going to add on to what I posted last week.
If if if...it is true Mack is on the way out fans who have already been put through a ton gotta come around and come to grips with the state of the program or risk going crazy.
If the guy is truly on his last season, or doesn't get a chance after the suspension is over, the program is taking unfathomable never seen before giant steps backwards. Been stuck in neutral for a few years, and that may feel like paradise compared to what could be on the way.
Politely disagree. NCAA may look at it as we are serious about cleaning up the program instead of pretending that we are. We can’t go any lower, only higher. Build back better and stronger.
