we have alot of problems on offense, but its a helluva lot better than its been in quite a few years. We are limited as to what we can do by ****** QB's and inexperienced WR's. Its going to take time to build an offense. You cant overcome 5 years of the **** Crooms built in just a couple of weeks. Relf makes Kyle York look like Colt McCoy.

We are limited as to what we can do offensively. I think Mullen is doing one helluva job with what he has. Relf only knows about 6 plays, so you people wanting him as the QB full-time are in some type of bizarre world. This isnt Playstation where Mullen can just call a play and he runs it.

I agree however going forward other coaches are going to realize MSU is one dimensional and sell out against the run ......

Broccoli and Hutchins are the best duo we've had in a decade. The kick coverage has been decent and the kickoff returns have been excellent.

You hit the nail on the head with that one. Mullen said he would do what he could with what we had and then recruit to get players that fit his idea of offense in time. He hasn't whined once about not having the personnel that fit his idea of offensive players and has tried to make best with what he has. It may not be the wide *** open offense we all crave but it is starting to be more competitive than it was.

It is terrible. Especially since Boy Wonder's spread was supposed to be a cure all. And it's not as if we have played against the best defenses in the league - yet.

is what I love about Mullen.
He hasn't whined once about not having the personnel that fit his idea of offensive players and has tried to make best with what he has
I've listened to him speak in person twice, I've listened to his show a few times, and I've read countless articles and interview transcripts. Not once have I heard him say anything about how the previous admin left him with crap, he'd have to fight against the system, or that we'd have to find some diamonds in the rough. Dan knows that in this league, you either put up or take your *** home. There's nothing to gain by blaming others for your problems because no one wants to hear it. SEC fans want wins.

Among many other reasons, one of the things that will always hold Croom back from a position of leadership is his desire to always blame something or someone else for each of his shortcomings.

Run Offense: 20th 222 yd/g

Scoring Offense: 55th 28 pt/g

This ain't that bad, compared to the last 5 years.

So your measuring stick is how he does compared to Croom. Let's hope the people in charge have higher aspirations. Otherwise, he could be coach for life.

Well it's certainly fit our personnel a hell of a lot better than the **** Crxxm ran -- or hadn't you noticed the ~40 spot jump in total Offense to date?

we are improved offensively even with worse WR's than last year and some of the nation's shittiest QB's. You can fine tune the engine of a Pinto all you want- but it's still a Pinto and not a race car. Until he gets an upgrade in offensive talent- especially at QB- we arent ever going to be a top offense. There is only so much he can do.

The man has taken absolute **** for offensive talent and made it respectable- yet you want to *****. Figures

All I can remember who left was Aubrey Bell and Jamayel Smith and Leon Berry is definitely a step up from both of them. And I think Bumphis and Heavens provide more than Bell or Smith would have provided in Mullen's offense.

Bell and Smith as Seniors > Bumphis and Heavens as true Freshmen...

You have to include toughness, route running, experience, blocking....all of that, not just potential...Bumphis and Heavens will be better than those two ever thought about- but not right now

go beat your meat to a picture of Rick Pitino and quit whining. We have no effing players. Mullen is doing the best he can with the steaming pile of crap the Walrus left us. It will take him a year or two to recruit some guys and implement what he wants to do.

if Mullen had walked into an offense with Omar Conner, Jerious Norwood, David Stewart and others it would be a helluva lot better. He wasnt exactly given what Crooms was in year 1

Unstoppable. I'm telling you now, we'd steamroll teams with those two guys and a serviceable line.

Mullen could've won 6-7 games in 2004. Ol Blue is too busy stalking Rick Pitino and internet message board posters to know what the 17 he's talking about.

that we would have won the games we already won, its pretty obvious we could have beaten Maine, Arkansas, Vandu and Ole Miss that year with a real offense and competent coaching. UAB was decent, so I wouldn't pencil it as an obvious win, but those other four all finished with a losing record.

we meat Maine 99 times out of 100.

Scary thing - how much different would the last 5 years have been if we had not hired Croom, and won 7 or 8 games in 2004?

the Crooms hire really set us back about 8 years...a better coach in 2004 and we arent sitting where we are now record or talent-wise

Not that he would've come to State over his beloved WV, but was he even a blip on the LT's busted-*** radar?

We just have to do whatever we can this year to get by. It doesn't even factor in that our WR have no experience except the one coming off a broken leg. I don't want to see Tyler this year because it more than likely won't affect the record by enough to matter.

Of course no players actually fit Croom's offense since it wasn't really an offense. More of a way to buy time till punting.

and subsequently put us on self-imposed 5 year probation...Crooms was damn near the death penalty

Did Mullen ever say it fit to a tee? I never heard it. i will give Mullen credit for not forcing an offense onto a bunch of players that cant perform it. You know, kind of like Croom?

I don't know if he said it or not. Either way, I never said he did. But some people hear really believed that all it was going to take was a different philosophy.

but he is going to need more than three games to get it going. Nobody was expecting a 7-8 win season this year. Most on here knew we would suck
