Is this where we are heading to keep these players in school.. Makes some sense to give them a little cash IMO.

<p class="inside-copy">At North Carolina, Hall of Fame basketball coach Roy Williams
questions why athletic scholarships can't measure up to top academic
awards, such as UNC's Morehead-Cain scholarship, that take care of a
recipient's travel, computers and other incidental extras. He lobbies
in particular for players in the revenue-producing sports of football
and men's basketball. </p><p class="inside-copy">"Human nature," Williams says, "is those kids
are saying, 'Look at all this money we're bringing in. And I have to
beg, borrow and steal to get an extra meal?' "</p>http://www.usatoday.com/s...htm?loc=interstitialskip

<div>It's only fair, considering how much money they generate for the university and local economy. It would also be imperative for all D1 schools to pay the same salary, or else the gap between the haves and have nots would grow much larger.</div>

They put in an official 20 hours a week, pay them the same rate as any other student who works for the University.
