It was 33-35 and WVU BLEW 24-14 3RD QUARTER LEAD.
There was no way WVU was beating the best team in Big 12 just because Major number was being retired.

I'll try again - emphasizing that if
West Virginia (as a program)
was NOT inspired enough - Motivation by Major Number retirement, wasn't motivation enough.
If West Virginia had beaten
UMd or Oklahoma (yes WVU should have beaten Md and Oklahoma),
WVU wouldn't be scratching for another bowl appearance.

You're over thinking the entire process. You do know none of those players where born when Major last played. The coaching staff was 8 maybe 9 years old. Oh and the other team wants to win.
