I would say anOSU was missing one starter - Cannon. Gallagher and Birden at 165 is more of an open competition for the starting spot.
Paddy majored Araujo earlier this year.

So whether it’s style or whatever… if this meet meant anything, Paddy would have gone.

I still dont know how he has one, the stars aligned is how honestly.
Damn near everything came up roses for Nebraska at 2025 NCAAs.

Matty Bianchi had Antrell Taylor beat with about 15 seconds left in the 3rd period, but took an ill-advised shot that allowed Taylor to win. Taylor was also helped when Joey Blaze somehow beat Tyler Kasak on the other side of the bracket.

Another was McDanel's path to AA in the consolation bracket, where most every favorite kept getting beat.

Maybe. But Araujo was dinged up when he was majored by Gallagher at National Duals in November 2025; Araujo definitely was hurting in the latter portion of that match.

You guys may be right.

my untrained eye says close one. Because Taylor will ride the edge and try to counter pj into scrambles.

pj hasn’t shaken off freestyle yet imho so that strategy favors taylor.

but if he blows the doors off, we’ll all be very happy too!
I think he has trouble with physical good guys. See Kasak

Very much in AA contention, but it seems his title chances are lower this year than ever. Some of that may be due to Mendez and Vega, but I think he’s lost an edge.

We may lose 141 and hwt but otherwise gonna embarrass nebby if this version of their team shows

I like Cole’s chances in that match IF the ref makes AJ engage on their feet! JMHO

Van Dee had a draw on the backside too, everyone he wrestled was 18 seed and above.

The Buckeyes faithful are talking themselves into believing.
Yeah, Stretch Armstrong wouldn’t hold up to this writer. “Favored” at 133 & 157. “Basically toss ups” at 125 & 149. “Not massive upsets” at 174 & 184.
Wonder if this writer is taking bets?

Does Midlands count as a first-semester event, and therefore true freshmen must wrestle attached?

Because if so, then Ryan burned Maddox Shaw's tanshirt today, bumping him up from 149 to get majored by the defending national champ.

No. Midlands can be unattached. Shaw has used at least 4 dates but Midlands and Kent State Open were both after the first semester ended so he could have (and likely did) wrestle unattached.

I watched the Feldman/Felon match. Several times AJ motioned for Feldman to come at him like he was in a Mortal Kombat video. Hilariously, AJ immediately backed up...farther and farther. Both Douche and stalling. AJ was going for ride-outs....not really trying for a takedown. I hope Feldman beats him two more times this year unless Cole takes him out first at BIGs

Davino beat Blaze once in UTB a few years ago - with Blaze winning multiple times since then with wider gaps - but so many are still picking Davino.

We will see. Some never learn.

And don’t get me started on Cannon vs PJ.

It’s like all these young guys who have gotten better due to the passage of time, but our young guys (who constantly prove they get better when it counts under Cael) don’t get the same experience bump when comparisons are made. You’d think they’d learn

Ferrari did spend a whole lot of time going backwards. There was one sequence where he dropped to both knees and literally knee hopped backwards like he was in a race.

Skipping ahead to the only scoring here.

Feldman won with the Quentin Wright underhook + far knee pick.

Damn, I will have to go back and watch. I thought AJ'S reaction was simply falling down.
I thought the same and watched it a few more times. Nick never touched AJ's knee as he went for the knee pick. Nick hit the underhook hard and AJ threw his leg back so hard in reaction that he basically fell on his own. It was kinda' like an "own goal" in soccer.
