With CMB gone, we need 1 to 2, maybe 3 more players. We’ve done well in the portal so far. Does anyone have info on who we might be looking at next?

Two 7’footers at center and Strong at PF. Need depth but the starters are there. The Fr Ellis may have to play point, Meechie will take some scoring pressure off that position. So need depth at PG and another PF, but other spots seemed to be filled pretty well. Hopefully will be better than what we saw this year.

Our centers are not legitimate SEC starting centers. They are depth pieces at best. Strong isn’t a starting PF either. He’s a huge defensive liability.

Eaglestaff just decommitted, he averaged 19 a game. So yes, not looking good. Need 3-4 more players now and, as you stated, really good ones who are starters.

The transfer portal is a joke. Hell, even the NBA and NFL have rules in place. It’s very simple, as the NCAA. We have a rule on how you can play college sports. If you don’t like those rules, go somewhere else. Letting players dictate everything is a joke. So this portal guy from North Dakota signed paperwork with us but paperwork is not considered binding. Got it. So when we sign someone, or any teams on someone, they’re probably not looking to recruit someone else at that spot. Then the player just reneged on the paperwork and you are screwed.

They really need to put rules and guidelines in place. It is a total joke. Where else in working society can you get away with breaking your word and your signature being worthless?

I hate to say it because I am usually pro-player, but it is going to take a couple players getting sued. With all of the de-commitments with money being involved, there has to be some breach of contract going on. The question is whether one of these Collectives have the nerve to do it.

As I stated months ago, we very well might be worse next year. There is no reason to think otherwise.

It’s time to end the Paris era. Just scrap it all and start over.
You may be right. I was pro-Paris until all the players leaving at the end of the season. What credibility do you have as a coach when nobody likes you enough to stay and you have to field a totally brand new team every year.

I agree, but for me it goes far beyond just players leaving… his portal recruiting has been awful for 2 of the 3 years he’s been here. This transfer class is a major step down at center and PF currently, and he’s done nothing to address the glaring need of a quality starting PG. but let’s take a look at the transfer hauls we’ve had

2022:
Hayden Brown was brought in as a starter— and he was a bench player at best in the SEC.

Meechie Johnson wound up being a hit

Boynton never played here

Dibba got hurt but on paper was a questionable recruit—definitely not a starting SEC player

BBV—a complete blunder here and took up 3 years of scholarships that could have been used on better players

2023:

Mack and Cooper were good pickups

Stute is at best a role player off the bench based on his time here and at Vanderbilt. Hes a streaky shooter and not a great defender.

Stephen Clark had no business being on an SEC roster

2024

Pringle and Thomas were not system fits. These were Frank Martin type players. They’d benefit playing in a transition offense where they play the passing lanes for turnovers and get out and score in transition. Paris never did anything to adjust the defensive scheme. Thomas couldn’t score in the paint because he didn’t learn how to shoot a floater. Pringle was not an offensive threat outside of the paint.

Butler has some upside but doesn’t always play like a center.

Why are we keeping a guy that can’t recruit to his system? Why are we keeping a guy that can’t keep a roster together? Why are we keeping a guy that is clearly missing on his HS evaluations?

I am waiting for the day when in season transfers happen, kinda like the trade deadline in Baseball.

In-season?

Heck, get ready for in-game transfers: play lights-out in the first half against UK and then suit-up for them for the 2nd half.

At this point I don't watch college sports for the competitive entertainment, I watch for the Shakespearean tragedy/low-rent sitcom it's become while laughing and rooting for the system to implode from the greed that's rotting it.

It might be the other way around. Maybe he encourages them to go elsewhere. We haven’t lost a single player that makes us an SEC contender other than those going to the NBA like GG and CMB. I like several of our players that left. But let’s face it. They are not difference makers and many games they are liabilities.
