Need a little help...

Does anybody know where I can find a football roster from say 1941... I have a friend who's Grandfather played on the '41 team but he doesn't know what his number was. We were trying to pick him out in a team picture from that year but had no luck...

yearbooks in the archives in the library have names under the team pictures?

Special Collections on the bottom floor of the Library (turn right after you get in the Hardy St. entrance). Talk to a woman named Betty Self, she has all of the old Media Guides and Reveilles.

I know of a bar-b-que place that has a picture of all of the players from that team with their names. It is individual pictures, so it should be easy to pick people out.

The restaurant is in Ridgeland and I can't remember the name of it. It has a sports/football theme to it.

I can give directions, though.

I-55 N
Old Agency Rd exit, then take a right.
Go down Old Agency Rd. and cross over HWY 51.
You'll see a strip mall on the left as you cross over HWY 51, and the resturant is in that strip mall.

I was wanting to call it Pig Shak Inn, but I knew that wasn't right.

I don't know if it's an exact copy because I've not been to the barbecue place in question, but the names can be easily found, but seeing the numbers depends on the type of photograph. Porkchop & Tidrow's suggestion of contacting Special Collections at MSU might be your best option-- unless you know the person's name and I can look at the photo.

Yeah... His name was Arnold Moore... Friend said he played from '39 to '41 and had an Orange Bowl watch so we're assuming he was in that picture... I've got the College Football Vault Book with the team picture from the Orange Bowl game that we're looking at and you can clearly see the numbers...

And I see Mihalic, Moates, and Murphy but no Moore. I don't know how accurate the photographs are to the roster. I suggest checking with MSU Special Collections.
