Given recent games and IMO Iowa needs two portal guards that can shoot, pass, and handle the ball. Do not have to all-stars just consistent players. If they go with the current roster next year they will struggle. JMO
The other 2 and 3 seeds dominated with 20+ point wins.Sorry for being obtuse, but point me in the direction of any non-1 seed school that doesn't have limitations outside of 2 star players. I'll eagerly await anyone's overreaction response.
You just proved my point and reinforced my argument. You’re right. Iowa doesn’t have a backcourt good enough to elevate into one of those special programs / 1 seeds. It’s hard to do. But that’s the objective.Sorry for being obtuse, but point me in the direction of any non-1 seed school that doesn't have limitations outside of 2 star players. I'll eagerly await anyone's overreaction response.
You're the poster who started the thread freaking out about Jensen's use of Deal, correct? It’s hard to admit since this team is a 2 seed and finished 2nd in the B10 but CCW and Stremlow should be solid backups at a program with serious aspirations of elevating into one of those special programs.
AH (and HS to a lesser degree) hides this roster’s limitations in a MAJOR way.
I also suspect JJ difficulty in receuiting top perimeter plates may have something to do with her style of play and one dimensional post offense. We shall see.
Just glad the Hawks have AH!
They looked like sh*t, Sir.CC has clouded the minds of lots of fans. Also a fellow 2 seed was shellacked twice by this very team this season. If for some reason Iowa wins on Monday by more than 10 will all of the overreactors proclaim this version of Iowa to be better than either of the championship squads? After all that's something even they were incapable of doing. (I'm well aware this team doesn’t have the ceiling of either of those teams but what Iowa squad does without the greatest college basketball player of all time?)
They sure did, but they were never going to be a championship team this season anyway. Win and move on as far as you can. A 2nd weekend team won't be defined by a close first round game. They looked like sh*t, Sir.
Nice job throwing (5 * recruit) under the bus bus. Remember stating this:I also suspect JJ difficulty in receuiting top perimeter plates may have something to do with her style of play and one dimensional post offense. We shall see.

I've posted before that an athletic KylieAgreed they need at least one for sure. I think the combo of an improved Addie, Chit Chat, Taylor, and player X is a good guard rotation. If player X is not, you must add a three point specialist that can replace McCabe off the bench a few years ago.
Well, she had one of the top 3 shooters in the country 5 minutes from campus, Averie Lower, didn’t offer, so Molly Miller and ASU will get to enjoy coaching her.I also suspect JJ difficulty in receuiting top perimeter plates may have something to do with her style of play and one dimensional post offense. Good rational response. You're the poster who started the thread freaking out about Jensen's use of Deal, correct?
She had Lucy who could create. But she fed HS a ton in that offense as well as AH when she started to play more. It’s obviously where JJ is most comfy. And they lost in the R32.Jan ran a four guard offense last year that ran through Lucy. I don't know why you keep ignoring that.
This is a shortsighted and just ignorant assertion.CC has clouded the minds of lots of fans. Also a fellow 2 seed was shellacked twice by this very team this season. And the Carlisle girl will get to annoy us for the next 4 years at Iowa State.................Well, she had one of the top 3 shooters in the country 5 minutes from campus, Averie Lower, didn’t offer, so Molly Miller and ASU will get to enjoy coaching her.
I'm not arguing they shouldn't aspire to greater things, but historically Iowa isn't on that level and there's nothing wrong with saying that either. Over the last 30 years Iowa has been to the elite 8 or better 3 times. They've won the regular season conference title 4 times over that same time frame. Even with CC the best they could accomplish in conference was a shared title with a team they lost to. The more things change the more they stay the same. This is a shortsighted and just ignorant assertion.
Iowa bball made the elite 8 and won the Big 10 prior to CC. Just weren’t consistently at that level. Without CC the goal would have been to elevate. CC brought attention to the incredible fan support, family culture, and commitment to supporting women’s bball. Also highlighted Iowa City as an attractive community for female athletes.
Iowa realistically should feel it can get there. No shame in aspiring to that.
and yes I sure wish Deal was further along. Could have used her today.
Yeah we're not a top 4-5 team - just shows the OVERALL talent gap in the sport, not any shortcoming of one teamIt’s hard to admit since this team is a 2 seed and finished 2nd in the B10 but CCW and Stremlow should be solid backups at a program with serious aspirations of elevating into one of those special programs.

I think this is true.I'm not arguing they shouldn't aspire to greater things, but historically Iowa isn't on that level and there's nothing wrong with saying that either. Gotta have a new starting backcourt next year. And if Deal hasn’t developed, new starters at 1-2-3 assuming Mc plays the 4.
Love her. She was invaluable and I’m not sure where Iowa would have been without her.Even Chit Chat?
Love her. She was invaluable and I’m not sure where Iowa would have been without her.
But she’s 5-4. She’s maxed her ceiling and just has too many size limitations that limit her against athletic teams. And now there might be some question about her mental toughness. With the 2 missed FTs and subsequent meltdown it was painful to watch.
Iowa, if they want to elevate, must get harsh and hardcore about their roster assessment.
Fair and good point.I think Chit Chat was gassed. I don't think her height is as big of a detriment against most teams. I would look to the other guards that combined for like 10 points... if that.
