Whereas:

1) SPS is by far the slowest-loading website I visit

2) SPS ads are becoming impractical for my laptop. Each page takes very long to load and often locks up the whole web browser until Firefox pops up a message saying a java script is unresponsive, then asks if I want to stop it. Getting tired of that on every page.

That said - what software is effective at blocking ads and all the invasive java **** on SPS?

No there is nothing wrong with my computer. SPS is the only site that bothers me computer. Did the all the spam come in with Saddawg? Because SPS is about as bad as a porn site now.

I've tried it a few times. Quite painful. As with my laptop and desktop, SPS is slower than any other website I visit.

I recognize SPS is not built for mobile phones, so I don't expect much there. But it is still ridiculously slow considering that.

You posted that about 3 weeks ago. It loads the top half fast, but the posts sometime take 3 to 4 minutes to load. Sometimes, it never stops loading and never finishes the page. Like the poster said, I know that sixpack might not be the best mobile site, but I was thinking that some day, it could be better. It used to work fine. Just a few months ago.

I use Safari most of the time and once I click on six pack, it will load the top portion of the page then I will get the spinning colorwheel for 5-10 seconds.

Every so often, I will also get a lady talking in the bottom right hand side of the screen that will scare the hell out of me.

I have not tried Firefox, but would love to know how to avoid the 5-10 second delay that happens every time I try to view the website.

I agree. This site is brutally slow on Iphone and I get the same unresponsive message popup using Chrome.

Zero issues with slow pageloads or errors since I started using it on my laptop and desktop. Lots of IE enhancements too.

I have to disable it to view some web content, but it's worth the trouble. </p>

Using Firefox with Adblock Plus. Page loads immediately and I can't ever recall having a pop up. The only ads I ever see in the margin are Farm Bureau, Mudbugs, Jester B's and Six Pack Fan Shop.

I have abandoned using IE through Verizon with MSN. It was very slow and would lock up at a drop of a hat. I switched to Firefox and although it is slow loading (after running all of the ad links and scripts) it is fairly reliable, just don't get ahead of it between pages or it will give an error message. Never had this problem when SPS was just a dream of a poor white "Mississipi" boy running a message board, but now that it is main stream corporate America and big bucks things are more complicated, I guess.
