not sure, but it was in one of his recent interviews. If he plans on going to Mississippi, he better get accustomed to losing. They will be lucky to win 2 games next year.

I remember it. I don't think he said "losing team". I think he said he didn't want to be part of a "rebuilding process". Obviously Ole Miss would qualify as both.

"I would feel comfortable saying [Channing Ward's] top six is Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. Oklahoma could get in the mix depending on how his visit goes,” said [Justin] Moss [who is Aberdeen's offensive coordinator]. “Right now the plan is for him to narrow it down to a top five and then take his five official visits."

"Channing has repeatedly told me that he’s not going to go to a team that doesn’t have a winning season next year. He said he doesn’t want to be part of rebuilding project. With that said, he and his mom will wait until the season to see how the teams are doing and then take some official visits. I’d expect a decision in December or January, but it could possibly be as late as signing day."

That being said, the rebearz have had plenty of time to get their signing package together for CW and Mom.

Me- Ward doesnt want to play in Oxford, but is getting alot of pressure to do so from family for various reasons

... thought I would provide that quote to remind him what Ward's line of thinking is ... was as of July, 2011, before things started heating up and desperate bear boosters started involving themselves in the recruiting process.

Y'all's class is a MF'n crime. If y'all somehow score Winston and Goldman, this class will top USCw 2003.

didn't need all last season.

Did they take the summer off and then suddenly remember that they were desperate again?

for CW is just plain sick and should be declared illegal by NCAA rules. Just amazing that all these players want to go to Bama and sit behind other All-Americans given only 22 can start at any one time. In my view Saban is actually a much better recruiter than he is coach which is why he wasn't all that great as a pro coach in Miami and it takes him a while to get his programs rolling (see 6-6 his first year at Bama).

Hometown/family/"camp" pressure is a fixture of recruiting. That's why you spend so much time getting to Mama. Freeze has mentioned that a few times, saying it was one of the things Orgeron taught him, that one of the biggest things you have to do is figure out who it is a recruit confides in the most, and you have to win that person. They did that with Pierce Burton in the short period before this Juco signing period, winning his Dad.

If Ward comes to Ole Miss, and I think there is a good shot he will, it'll be because we have people in his camp on our side. Having his brother on the team and getting along with the team is a big advantage for us.

That's just the way it is. Ultimately, it doesn't matter how you get players to your campus. It's whether or not you get them and what they do after you get them.

I would still take Brassell, CJ and Singleton if I could get them. I think all 3 will end up being solid and would all have been tremendous players under Mullen. The sideshow Nutt was running would have wasted them but if Freeze gets control of the program they should do well in Oxford. But yea, I'm still convinced they were all 3 bought and paid for. Unfortunately for you guys you were actually outbid for Whitehead.

I know I remember Saban himself saying that he sees himself as a better recruiter then he is a coach. So I'd say you are right on that.

since UGA is making a play for Jordan Jenkins. What is ridiculous is that they are using CW as a back-up plan. Think about that. I honestly cannot get that kids like Ward don't seem to be impacted by the fact that schools like LSU and Bama are stacked 46 deep at weakside DL or OLB, while the rebearz and us are wide *** open for the taking. Ward would not see the field, except maybe ST until at least their soph year.

He will probably head to Cal. They want him as a DL. He was not going to play D at bama. Texas may have a shot at him. He mentioned maybe taking an official at Auburn, but I don't know if he followed thru. He's not being mentioned on any of the bama sites now, so I think he's off the board. He's an early enrollee so he'll be announcing soon.

Goldman is at the top of saban's board. He's made no bones about where Goldman fits in this class. Goldman is why we got Q Evans.

They might do better than last season's 2-10, but possibly not any better than 2010's 4-8. That's not really rebuilding at all. That's just a new coaching staff continuing the tearing down process or at best just clearing out the debris.

Im hearing that he is leaning our way. I have a source in Aberdeen and that what he is telling me. He knows it will be hard to crack the lineup at LSU and Bama. It's def a instate race but he is betting on us. Take it for what it is worth.

We should make sense to Ward:

1. Close to home (as is Ole Miss and Alabama. LSU and Auburn too far)

2. We will win games and go to bowls (as will Alabama, LSU, and Auburn. Ole Miss is in the *******)

3. Depth chart (LSU and Alabama will be full of 4 and 5 stars). A guy of Ward's caliber can play early at MSU.

Defensive End is a position that is very thin. The early losses of Nick Bell, J. McKenzie, and Stigers hurt, as did the inability to sign Leon Mackey. We absolutely cannot get to the QB from the DE position. Hell, Eulls was moved from tackle simply because Stigers and McCardell couldn't get it done. Ferguson is also graduating. Obviously, Autry will start opening day unless he is hit by a car between now and September. The other side will be McCardell, Eulls, and some younger guys like Preston Smith and John Harris. The bottom line is that nobody on our roster has proven that they can come off the edge and put pressure on the QB. Ward is that kind of guy (as is Autry).

would point to Ward coming to MSU. The Bears are playing every card they have NOT related to football on this deal. Only thing they have football wise right now is early playing time but we can offer that too if Ward is half as good as billed.

As much I would love to go through a recruiting argument about Ward (who will probably sign with AU anyway) people think that just because Ole Miss is coming off a second straight horrible season, that there is no way they should be able to beat out a 6-6 MSU team for any in-state recruit.

I remember thinking the same thing almost 10 years ago headed into February of 2003, after MSU's second straight dumpster fire of a season, and Ole Miss having a 6-6 season, a great set of offensive recruits from the previous recruiting classes, and that we were going to land any defensive recruit we wanted from MS. Then 2003 signing day happened and Derrick Hampton, Corey Clark, and Quinton Culberson all signed with MSU.

How in the world could that happen? It happened because MS recruits rarely look to team results from the previous season to determine where to go to school. One of the best signing class on paper for MSU was signed after a terrible 3-8 season. Four parade all americans, and some of the most highly decorated MS recruits the state has ever had. I know some lunaticposters alwaysblames money and shady recruiting tactics every time their school loses a recruit, but I don't. This boarddidn't use to think that either, but it seems that now that is the accepted position on anyrecruit that wouldpick Ole Miss over MSU.

Ward has unofficially visited Ole Miss several times this season, and that could really help MSU considering what was on the field.
