I have been taking notes, and it seems to be that the magic formula is the following (in order of importance):
1) Experienced college head coach
2) Experienced and creative O and D coordinators
3) Experienced QB that leads the team
4) 2-3 outstanding linemen, 2 running backs, 1-2 receivers and a good db/punt returner - do "anything it takes" to get these and #3 if necessary
5) Fill out the rest of the linemen 2 deep with quality guys (1 or 2 academic nonqualifiers just for good measure)
6) Smart and talented punter, kicker, special teams
Seems to be what makes it all work.
