My point isn't to knock down the WW2 generation it's to prop up all the other ones.

Had a professor at State, history professor during a Maymester, that I got into a verbal confrontation with because he said WWII wasn't the greatest generation and had done nothing to deserve that title. Instead, he claimed the greatest generation was the one that fought for desegregation during the Jim Crow era (basically saying WWII babies) were far greater because of their societal achievements.
This topic, like many on here, can be argued until the cows come home from multiple different vantage points. But the direction this one is heading is pure ludicrous. It is BECAUSE of those soldiers on the battlefields and women in the factories that everything else fell into place. It was a GENERATIONAL EFFORT by men, women, AND CHILDREN to assist in the war effort. Your point, DAWG61, may not be to "knock down" that generation...but you sure as hell are doing a fine job of attempting to cheapen their achievements. Which I do not find ok....especially on the day of remembrance, much less at any other point in time. Each generation has their claim to fame. Baby Boomers endured the cold war and Vietnam, millennials eat 17'n tide pods....whatever you want to call it. But do not cheapen the achievements of the men, women, and children who altered their lives for 4 years, a large portion even giving their lives, to ensure your *** could speak English and live in a free country.

No, I'm not, never claimed to be either.
I'm not the one trying to reward other people for their achievements when it is because of that WWII group that other generations were able to take that foundation and continue to build.

Germany would never have been able to occupy America dude quit being so dramatic. They couldn't even occupy England when it was only 100 miles away or control North Africa.

They were soldiers. They were told they were going in. They didn't have a choice. It's not like commanders are gonna call off D-day cause the soldiers said they didn't feel like going. Yes I know many of those guys voluntarily signed up for service. But I also think you're kind of shitting on our current military members, like they somehow lack the courage that those guys had. Times have changed, but I guarantee you countless men and women have behaved just as courageously in the wars since WWII. From Korea, Vietnam to our current blunders in the Middle East.

Did I say there WEREN'T men that wouldn't step up? Don't believe I did. As a matter of fact I said they would, just nowhere near the numbers that stepped up in WWII. Recruiting is a major problem now for a reason. During WWII men didn't think twice about stepping up. You can perceive what I'm trying to say any way you want, it's cool. I just ETS's from the Army/National Guard four years ago and I can promise you our military today has some major issues within it because of the way liberalism is dumping all over society. They didn't have all of this perpetually victimized bull$#!t being forced on them like we do today....and thus they bucked up and got **** done. Are there people like that today? Of course, but nowhere near like it was back then because today people are being told that they MUST be victims or that things are unfair because of a certain demographic of people.

Why are you acting like being triggered is a bad thing? Trump is the most triggered human to ever walk the earth. He can't go an hour without being triggered and melting on Twitter

Now I did vote for trump. You probably did too. Let's embrace his lead and celebrate being triggered and melting on social media

As the saying goes ..."I learned it from you dad. I learned it by watching you..... Presidents who are triggered have citizens who are triggered"

Or maybe people like you can't go five minutes without overanalyzing everything he says and losing your sanity over it. Seriously, I bet you couldn't even spot a MAGA hat without needing a tranquilizer dart to the neck. Trump has every right to fire right back at these virtue signaling, angry hypocrites who literally lose sleep over Trump being president. It's nice actually having a president that doesn't let everyone walk all over him.

Trump has done nothing to deserve the hostility he gets and people like you can't even name one reason why you hate him beyond "he says mean things and is a meanie weanie" or "Russia, Russia, Russia" or "He's a Nazi racist dictator".

You’re right. But had a weaker adversary won, what would’ve happened as a result?
So, theoretically, say Germany won. They emerge as the self-promoted “Super-Power”. Oh look, along comes the European equivalent of the Cold War. Russia had come to play. In WWII, there was a little battle called Stalingrad, where Germany had their asses handed to them. So now, Russia comes to town and wants to challenge this new Super Power. A few komrades and a full scale re-enactment of Stalingrad later and now Russia has knocked off Germany. Congratulations Dawg61, you now speak Russian and baptize your kids in vodka.
Exaggerating much? Yeah, I am. But who knows what would’ve really happened?

So you think POW are not heros? Since someone else brought up MAGA and so many people are in this thread blowing smoke about respecting the military. Lets talk about the respect Trump has given our military. You want me to name a reason I hate him?....Because he turned my party, the republican party, into a party of distrustful little snots, who whine like children at every little thing on earth.

For anyone to suggest they respect our military and then turn a blind eye to what Trump does and says shows such an amazing lack of self awareness.

But thank for publicly admitting you think POWs are not heroes. I now have no respect for you, but at least you admit it

Make the republican party great again

Oh God. Thanks for proving my point. Trump could save a box of kittens and a bunch of orphans from a blazing house fire and you drama queens would lose it because he didn't do it fast enough...or because he cancelled an interview to do so and wasn't being "transparent" enough. I'm sure you'd come up with something wildly blown out of proportion.

I think that's probably true, but I am concerned that the officer ranks are being afflicted with the same kind of garbage mediocrities that think they are elite that have filled a lot of our other institutions, and they are just a generation behind as far as the rot goes. No first hand knowledge of it, just seeing some of the virtue signaling that takes place and knowing that the officer ranks that are advancing are coming through universities and political influences that have managed to ruin so many of our other institutions.

I’ve been out since 2009, but I didn’t notice much of that back then. My brother is an officer in the Army and he will tell you that soldiers seem to be getting softer and lazier, so I’d say your point has some validity. Still hard to accept that my experiences were a decade ago.

lol.

Nice deflection. Trump has a long list of disrespecting the military. You really should take your hypocritical *** out of this thread, because you clearly don't give a **** about our service members. At least not enough to be honest

Take your commie pink *** to Oxford, you military hating dumbass

Talk about triggered. Geez.

Do you REALLY think Trump just 17ing hates the military? He's the one actually trying to get them out of the mess Obama got them in. I served in the military, too: 2 active duty Army and 8 in the National Guard. That aside, the double standards you set in this post is impressive. You further proved my point. Congrats. Your wild assumptions are not suprising either.

there was that time trump called the widow of a soldier, forgot the soldiers name, and told the wife he knew what he was signing up for.

Skipped visiting the Arlington Cemetery because it was raining.

So much respect!

Congrats on ruining something nice because you can't help but inject politics into stuff.

I am sorry, but it blows my mind to see people talk favorable of Trump in a pro-military thread. Especially a D-Day thread. Its very disrespectful to our greatest generation to do that. You can like trump for a lot of things......he does some things very well........respecting the military is not one. To see people defend them in this thread is amazing and shows such a lack of intelligence and self awareness is astounding

You were the one who started crying about how the WWII generation didn't raise their kids right and then brought Trump into this, chief. Talk about being a hypocrite.

Ah. Now it makes sense. You reading comprehension is poor and you are clearly not very smart if you think I said that the WWII generation didn't raise their kids right. I didn't. I also didn't bring trump into this. Someone else did. If you can't follow this thread, I shouldn't expect you to actually understand any of the big picture. Its clear all of this is over your head. You cant even read a one paragraph post without getting completely confused.

Bless your heart.

That's twice you changed the subject. Once because you have no idea how to defend Trumps disrespecting our military and now because you said something incorrect about me. That so funny. But not as funny as you trying a gotcha moment about me dealing out 6th grade insults.

Shall we discuss Trumps use of 6th grade insults? He's really really good at it. So by your logic, he cant get his fat *** out of that corner.

So are you going to change the subject again or do you want to discuss the merits of insulting people? Trump has some great ones

Wait. Has your mom's rash healed? She's a great piece of ***, but that itch is hard to deal with.

Also, let it be noted you have changed to subject again because yet again you have no way to defend your stance and your support of trump.

Holy 17! You miserable 17ing children have **** all over a post honoring D-Day. Think about that **** for a minute. 17 your political views. They don’t matter. Nobody here gives one solid **** how you feel about Trump, Obama or millennials. Respect the sacrifices being discussed here and grow the 17 up.
