Both of Iowa's 2025 women's signees have advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinals.

At 115lbs, Harlee Hiller (ranked #4 nationally) picked up a trio of first-period falls.

And at 190, Libby Dix (ranked #5 nationally) went fall/fall/TF en route to the quarters.

Crazy as it may sound, this is the first-ever major freestyle tournament for Dix - who's been a three-sport star throughout her entire Mount Vernon career.

Any idea on when Fargo brackets are supposed to be released for Mocco/McMullen?

Out now.

Mocco opposite side of Ross. Looking like a Honnold rd16, Levy qf, Merrill/Bechtold semi.

Mcmullen with a favorable draw. Jesuroga and Mason Petersen are the highest ranked guys in his quad.

Wrapping up Girls Freestyle from yesterday, Iowa's two incoming freshmen had excellent performances.

At 115lbs, Harlee Hiller (IL) took 1st in her bracket - including a dramatic semifinal win over a top 25 pound-for-pound opponent who was just ahead of her in the national rankings:

Hiller would go on to secure her fourth pin of the tournament in the finals, and in so doing earn the first 'stop sign' of her high school career.

Meanwhile, Libby Dix (IA) would finish 4th in her Fargo debut - earning wins over the #4, #5 and #6 seeds. Her only defeats came in the semis to the eventual champ and in the 3rd-place bout a returning Fargo champ.

Dix entered the tournament unseeded due to her almost nonexistent freestyle experience, so 4th place is a pretty remarkable feat for the soon-to-be Hawkeye.

We're on Day Two of boys freestyle matches at Fargo - meaning the Round of 32 is just now getting underway (seriously).

On Day One, 2026 Iowa commits Owen McMullen (150) and Michael Mocco (285) when a combined 3-0 with two shutout TF's and one pin.

McMullen just wrestled his R32 match and fell 9-5 to the #10 seed. He led 3-1 midway through the 2nd period but gave up a cradle and several exposures to fall into a hole that he couldn't climb out of.

Mocco should be up in a bit.

Although this round is likely to get UGLY, MI wrestlers are doing rather well so far. In fact, one of them gets the pleasure of Melvin Miller's company. I have a feeling that company will be very short lived...

Makes me nauseated every time I hear his or Bo’s name. Willie said he actually wanted to go to Iowa, but I can see if Basset’s adopted you, you wouldn’t want to be shunned by the family going forward. College is 4 years, but you have family for a lifetime. Just wish the dad didn’t put him in this position to not make up his own mind.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate we lost the Bassett’s. Awhile back when the news broke someone on the board said it was going to be a net gain with their departure; but I don’t know if that materialize or if that was hopeful thinking…

Hoping we can do good with the 27 class or flip some commits, because it’s a long way to catch up to PSU and the future of OkieSt.

Miller is the bigger loss. That's the one that really stings.

It would be extremely hard for it to be a net gain. Bassett is a sure-fire, high level producer. 4xAA, chance at multiple titles guy. Miller is a 4x champ talent. The little Bassett has AA upside too.

Hopefully, Tom can convince Bob to allocate all that NIL money the the HWC. Build up that infrastructure and you'll stand a better chance with the elite recruits 3-4 years down the line.

Unfortunately, they've dug themselves a pretty big recruiting hole for the next couple years. Will Tom *finally* learn his lesson? I'm not optimistic.

Potential semifinals match tomorrow between Peter Mocco and Mario Hutcherson. Both have been dominant so far.

Hopefully we see Ross vs Big Mocco
Do we still have much of a chance with Hutcherson now that the Basset gang will be at a different college?

I would say yes. Hutcherson isn't from Bishop McCort. He is a Young Guns kid but not Bishop McCort. I remember seeing somewhere that Hutcherson and Sidun are best friends? That would be great.

Hutcherson definitely has interest in Iowa and yes, good friends with Sidun. They travelled together to Iowa City for the prospect camp back in April.
