From High School on calling pitches from the dugout should be automatic toss out. Teach the players how to play, then let them. Talk about the ridiculous amount of micromanaging that goes on in the game today. Maybe that will not cause what seemed like a 6 hour game either.

Couldn’t you say the same with college football when the QB always looks to the sideline for audibles and other adjustments nearly every play?

Yeah. I chuckle when they refer to it as no-huddle. Sometimes a play, change of play, change of play, change of play takes 30 seconds and some teams get a delay of game call from the no-huddle. That is ridiculous.

I'm fine with that also, but I was watching these past two Baseball games and it was driving me nuts. I think our sports in general have gotten away from the people that are actually playing. So I am for anything that gets coaches out of micro managing.

If they're serious about speeding up the game then they should get rid of limitless foul balls on 2 strikes. Instituting a possession era type system where each team takes advantage and if a foul ball takes place on a 2 strike count it becomes either a walk or strikeout depending on who's "possession" it is. They could do other things like getting rid of warm up pitches between innings, no stepping out of the box once an at bat starts and pitcher only gets 1 toss over to an occupied base to hold a runner on. Though I don't really care about pace of play that much and feel like college football is worse.

It’s a non issue if they just use randomized grids for pitch type and location. As the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher and the pitcher is getting reset the coach just calls out the 3 digit number for the next pitch.

No need for wasted time with signs.

The bold one is OK, but the rest are awful. And I hate baseball purists generally.

Replace the pitcher with a pitching machine where the pitcher can select a pre programmed pitch with a difficulty level. If the batter hits it he scores points. There will also be an artistic component to the score based on how well he runs around the bases.

Nah, just use a tee to put the ball on.

I read about a minor league team that played a game where a foul on 2 strikes was a strikeout but only 3 balls for a walk. So 5 pitch max per at bat. All I am suggesting is radical change if they're serious about speeding it up. Again I love the game how it is except letting pitchers still hit in nl as teams have essentially refuse to train them to hit.....and maybe let the computers decide balls and strikes too.

I would not mind having a run rule and 7 innings like softball. Softball is a much easier game to watch to me. If you are up by 10 runs in the 8th, you should just call it so we can all move on. At that point, the players are just going through the motions and you are burning your pitching staff for no good reason.
