Mr. Bearsfan,
With as dominant as the bears have been, I would like to give it hands down to you guys and say that this will be a blow out or yet an easy game for you'll, but there's a problem.

I have had the experience of seen Hillside make things happen under harsh conditions, no matter if they are playing teams like the Rams, Richmond, Scotland, 71st, Southern Durham....just to use examples of Hillside toughness.

I will leave this as UNDECIDED

Defense playing lights out BB04. Reminds me of the defense yall guys played back in 2002 thru 2004.
So dominating last night and all season and I don't see that changing the rest of the way. You need to try and make it out here holler with the crew.

Ali vs Frazier!!! Round two! Float like a butterfly sting like a bee come watch these bears dominate round three!!! I agree a heavy weight fight!! No strangers at all!! But I do recall the only game this year that the hornets got SHUT out in was against this bears team at the beginning!! True all have gotten better but this defense has really turned up the power and strength of the bears!! Thrilla in Manila ain't got nothing on this fight Friday !!!

Bears roll on!!!

Hillside gonna score 24 more points then they did week 1? Hillside has averaged 15 points a game in the 5 meetings against the Bears. Never scored more than 27. New Bern is 30-1 in their last 31 home playoff games. NB's D gives up 7 points a game.

The nerve of of somebody to pick against the Bears. I guess I should be offended by all these blowout predictions. Maybe he would like it better if you predicted 7-6 S2V?

The Hornets will have the same problem against the Bears defense in week 1 where they didn't score at home. This being late in the year I believe they will put some points on the board. The Bears offense has come into it's own to go along with the dominant defense. It's a thanksgiving weekend game in Caruso Coates. Bears won by 12 on the road against this Hornet team they double the margin at home this week. New Bern 34 Hillside 10

Just watched the HS/71st game. Taking nothing away from the Hornets, but 3 turnovers in the red zone (6 total)really helped. 71st seemed to be moving the ball pretty well...then turn it over. HS had one great, long 80 yard drive and one other big play on O but that was really it. Changes my opinion a little. I was thinking a 14 point victory for the Bears, but I'm gonna say 21 points now.
Go Bears!

I agree LTB saw the same thing! They also kept trying to hit that home run pass and it only worked one time inside the thirty, and if you watch closely the defenders ran into each other for them to get that! 71 shut down running plays. I still believe New Bern shuts them down totally!!

New Bern by as much as they want!!!

I watched pretty closely and I saw that all those fumbles were forced. I saw one Hornet touchdown pass called back. That score should have been worse. I think their qb threw 2 picks and their back had 30 yards on 15 carries. That 71st game should have been more like 35-0.

So you increased your predicted margin of victory based on the Hornets forcing 3 turnovers. But you deducted NO points from the Bears for returning 3 Rose turnovers for Touchdowns. Sounds like another recalculation is in order.

Yeah. Y'all honestly didn't look like you have improved that much since the first game. I call them like I see them and granted it's the only game I've watched. I could very well be wrong. I know y'all are good bro, but there is something different about the Bears this year. Just my opinion though. I have great respect for the Hillside program also-My second favorite hs team without a doubt.

Yes we scored 21 points on D against Rose. Offense scored 33 on Rose two weeks before that with Mike Hughes playing 1 quarter.

Recalculation? No. Why should we expect Hillside to score this go around?

It would certainly appear that New Bern is the favorite here.
But the game still has to be played...

The recalculation was about the point spread he calculated. Pay Attention.

Hughes is a baller but your post didn't do him any justice.

You just said NB Offense scored 33 points on Rose without him for 3 quarters while also saying the NB D scored 21 of the 41 against Rose last week with him. While you're at it. Add in the KR TD for a total of 28 points for Defense and Special Teams. Now, I am not into all this discounting a team because they play good special teams and defense. Who says the offense has to score all the points anyway.

Expectations? What you should expect is the the unexpected, its the playoffs.

I just posted facts, that's all. We didn't need Mike to do much last week. We gave up 6 points and held one of the best WR's to 20 receiving yards. No one is discounting anything. We can score in multiple ways. Not a one man team.

Good point. I wouldn't discount a team led by Mike Hughes. He had over 180 yards rushing against Hillside last year and 140 earlier this year. Two more days.
Well, no I wasn't acting as if they only score on D. That was the line of reasoning used by one of your fellow Bears. I believe otherwise as I have already stated. I believe there are 3 phases to a football team. I also believe football is the ultimate team sport. If those rushing yards are an indicator of the outcome of the game, then that makes it a 50/50 proposition, correct. I do believe it each squad is 1-1 on the 2 games you referenced.

1-1, correct. Mike has gotten a lot better since his first career start at QB against Hillside last year. He wants that second ring, bad.

Hornet,

You are correct! We will win this game. I can tell you though you do have to play! So let's look at your film from last week! Offense scored on what looks like the deep pass! No runs passed 25 yards! To td's off turn overs in red zone and the first came as defenders ran into each other, second was a tight end who nobody wanted to hit low and hard and third through the deep pass again. That was it ball game!
Our first game NO deep pass completions, NO extra long runs, NO points scored!!
Yes we both have gotten better and yes hillside deserves to be here but it will be a long ride back'
LTB said it right This Bears team is different, it's like they thrive on the unknown and are not afraid of things happening!
Like I said to start this thread !!
Float like butterfly sting like a bee you'll come to Caruso Coates stadium to watch the hornets exit in round three !!!

LMFAO. Uhhh I never said you were going to win.

I don't think you watched that 71st game. Had a 40 plus yard run. Corner got burned on the 1st td and the safety got side stepped, then they bumped into each other after the fact but still wasn't a major collision.

However, dependency on the deep ball is not a good game plan. I think that's pretty common football knowledge and I don't expect the Hornets to depend on it at all.

We do not live on the long ball. You'll probably see one long ball friday, max.

About that tight end play. That was a totally unexpected play for me and a pleasant surprise. I have never seen him do that before but that play proves he can take it to the house.. Quite frankly, 71st tried to tackle him but couldn't. No lack of effort on their part but they just didn't get it done. If they didn't hit em hard because they were scared, then thats on them. The big guy gets credit, he broke 3 tackles and sprinted to score the longest TD of the night. It was actually a great play.

I think your last line was a typo.

You probably meant. The Bears buy as much as they want , you know since its Black Friday.

Ive noticed that teams like to blitz us. I think the Bears are going to blitz the A Gaps on certain downs.
