more-so than generate and retain interest in the program. I, for one, am not disappointed at all with this season because after bouncing back from our inability to win at all in the conference, we made it to Hoover and worked our way through a Regional and took a National Title runner up to the final innings of game 3. That is an accomplishment that deserves recognition.<div>
</div><div>But aGAIN, I don't think the intention is to celebrate victory so much as it is to 1) Keep people talking about our athletic program and 2) hammer in the minds of our fans and rivals that we are on the rise and have a winning attitude. </div><div>
</div><div>I remember when I first started reading SPS, many people would talk about our "lack of a winning attitude" (in every major sport... Stans, Crxxms, and Polk II). That winning attitude is perception. If we perceive ourselves to be winners and perceive ourselves to be on the rise, then we are (a fundamental marketing principle). That goes full circle because that reciprocates from our fans to our players to our administers (both athletics and academics) and back to the fans again. When Crxxms was here, no one perceived us to be winners, not even our own fans (that was beyond perception... that was indeed cold hard fact). Since Doc Foglesong kicked LT out, this marketing the athletic department is doing more to sell the idea that we have that "winning attitude." Without that, we wouldn't be where we are today. The change in logos, the change in image, the change of coaches, and the changes in attitude have all been because of the marketing taking place by our athletic department. They have given us reason to believe we are winners, so we do. I think that is the goal more than anything else. </div>
