I will be shocked if we get a 4 seed. I'm thinking 6 seed at best for our team, more likely to be an 8 to 11 seed type team.

I think MSU may jump up there some more, though it's way early to predict.

First off if we finish 3rd in the West I don't look to us even make the NCAA, second no way we would be a four seed even if we get in. As someone posted early I think 8 would be the highest we could get (Hell just getting in would be good at this point) and I think ya'll have a better chance at a higher seed than us, good thing about basketball is you can lose some and not be in to much trouble. If yall crush the sec and finish first in the west no one will remeber losing to rider(SP).

Put another way, your dork RPI is significantly higher than mine, and that's saying a lot.

If he had said that Dawgstudent and Op4 were a cross between the Watchers of Marvel's Earth-616 and the very similar yet blue-skinned Guardians of Oa (creators of the Green Lantern Corps in the DCU) that would be high level geekage.

The last film on Welles' resume - voicing Unicron in "Transformers."

(We're talking the amazing as @!@$ animated film in '86. Not the two live action creative abortions of this decade)

I don't even recognize most of the proper nouns in that post Godfrey. In the halcyon days of my youth, I did like me some comic books. From Richie Rich as a kid to the classic super heroes of the Justice League, I enjoyed them. But much like the baseball, football and basketball cards I also collected, greed and market saturation ruined comic books for me too. I liked Mad magazine too.....is Alfred E Neumann still around?

...First, I plan to read this board during basketball season, so I would appreciate it if you arrowdog impersonators would not use Rider as the primary indicator that this basketball season is screwed no matter what happens down the stretch.

Second, no early season loss has ever kept anybody out the Sweet Sixteen. You know what keeps teams out of the Sweet Sixteen? Failing to win your first 2 games in the NCAA tournament.

Third, as this dove-tails into my aforementioned second point, I don't want to have to suffer through all of your seeding fetishes. Which is why Rider will never be allowed to die on this board, because around 350 people who post here need Rider in order to feed their seeding fetish.

I don't care where MSU is seeded, as long as they get in. You know why? Because the hot teams in March will beat anybody they play. I realize some of you are young, but Google the 1996 MSU Final 4 team. (For you youngsters: The 1996 MSU team was a lowly 5 seed. Of course, just like now, this caused all the seeding fetish wonks to freak out).

Fourth, WTF does a Dec. 15th bracket mean? It means somebody has too much time on their hands. Nothing more.

Ronny,

You do understand the following concepts, correct?

1. The teams who advance to the Sweet 16 are FAR AND AWAY those who are seeded in the top 5. In the last three years, there have been seven teams seeded outside the top 5 make the Sweet 16. And one of those was a 6 and two of them were 7s. Point being, advancing to the Sweet 16 is easier (in theory) when you are seeded higher.

2. A higher seed is obtained by your season's performance. If we finish with 7-10 losses, Rider will not be the only reason we are outside the top 5 seeds. But it won't help. Your point about the 96 team is right in line with this. They were a 5 seed. So was the 95 team. Yes, the 96 team had the UALR loss, so clearly the Rider loss can be overcome, but it also can't be ignored come March.

3. Hot teams do not always win. We won the SECT last year and then got smoked by UW. Louisville was record setting hot last year and lost to Sparty. Missouri was hot and lost to UConn. Just because Texas, Xavier and Butler beat us as lower seeds does not mean hot teams always win.

At what point does dwelling on a loss in November become an absurdity? Virtually every team in the nation will have one or two questionable losses before the season is over so we don't live in a vaccuum. Sure the Rider loss sucks and I still can't explain it but in the grand scheme does losing to Rider in November hurt any more than say losing to Arkansas in February? I mean at what point can we stop complaining about the Rider game and start enjoying the fact that we are hammering teams right now and getting our crap together?

It also starred Leonard Nemoy (Galvatron) and Robert Stack (Ultra Magnus). Orson Welles had no clue as to what he was doing the voice over for and really didnt care.

Played a really poor game against Rider and followed that up with a poor performance against Richmond. Should they lose those games? Of course not, but look at what has happened since then, MSU is winning by 20+ against marginal teams, but that is what good teams do. Also, the team appears to be playing better.

At the end of the day, bitching and moaning about a loss almost a month ago instead of focusing on how the team is playing now is just charging at windmills as far as Im concerned. Personally I hope the lunatic fringe that hate Stans somehow convince the AD to get him out and replace him with Pelphrey.

MSU has six more games before conference play, go 6-0 in those, and you are 13-2 heading into a conference where the West is weak, and I think even a conservative estimate would put the W total at 10 SEC wins not counting the SEC tourney, and MSU is 23-8, and I think that is the basement. Considering how strong the SEC is this year, that could easily be a 4-7 seed depending on the tourney run.

Stans just can't get over the hump because he can not game-plan for teams he does not play on a yearly basis. The quick turn-around time in the tourney is too much for him to handle. It's just that simple, so the Higher the Seed, the easier the road to the Sweet 16. So losses to Rider and Richmond do matter come March.
