Joe Moorehead isn't going to be fired this year and I don't think he should be it's just to early. However if we were to fire him. State would need to spend real money and get a proven winner otherwise it's all for nothing.. it amazes me how so many on here are calling for his head but yet the guys you want to replace him with are either low level mediocre Head Coach's or Coordinators who we have no clue that they won't end up being much worse as a head coach.... (look at Arkansas and Tennessee) So don't even talk about it unless you want to make a real splash hire that shows State is serious about football... Once again though I do think at the very least we need to be behind him until the end of the season... But don't even talk about it if you want to bring some nobody in... Some of these names I've read are a damn joke.. either go big or don't go at all and stop complaining...

I’m all ears, who would you hire that would realistically leave their job to make a big splash at Mississippi State?

Personally I don't think we have to "go big" and get a "proven winner". I agree though, many of the names being thrown around are cringeworthy. They would just be retreads at best. I want a younger, fiery, smart coach who knows how to motivate his troops. Someone like....yes...Hugh Freeze. The guy is a clown, but you always knew his guys would run through walls if they had to.

What do I know though, I'm just spitballing and trying to cope with the embarrassment from last night. Ultimately I have no idea what the team needs. Help me, Jesus, before State football puts me in a padded cell.

My point is it's to early to fire him and the only excuse would be if you had a splash hire either spend what the rest of the SEC is paying or keep the guy and stick with him he is a result of just hiring someone trying to get a good bang for our buck and this is what you get for what we are paying him. He isn't bad but I doubt he isn't great more then likely.. Plenty of people would come if we paid.. for one they would know they didn't have to win a championship every year or ever.. if they could just win 9 to 10 games on average they would be worshipped here..

This "plenty of people would come if we paid" has been stated before but never happens. It really is comical reading it again.

We can’t fire him. What kind of message would that send to any prospective coach? Lol

He’s getting two more seasons after this one, barring an historic debacle. Buckle up.

So many of our posters think this is a dream destination for coaches. As if some great coach would tickled to death by the offer to come coach in the SEC west and get ripped apart by the fans every time he lost to Auburn or Alabama or LSU.....so ridiculous

Throw the 17ing bank at Lincoln Riley. Probably not realistic. I guy can dream, can't he?

It really is ridiculous that some people think we are a dream job and get anyone we want, and that we can just fit Joe this year. Wrong message to anyone wanting the job that’s not a proven HC or otherwise and it just serves up internet fodder for others to use against us in recruiting!

Think of all these great HC for small colleges and such that isn’t working out like Morris and Fuente to name a few. just chill out a bit guys and quit being our own worst enemy at times.

"Probably not realistic" in the same way it's probably not realistic for Giselle to leave Tom Brady for me.

I hate this line of thinking. The message we would be sending is that we have high expectations. Anyone who is competitive and confident and wants to earn a few million will be lining up for a chance at the job.

Don't let the stench of cologne cover up the inefficiency of our athletic department. Or is it the stench of my colon.......I can never remember the correct JoMoisms.
