Was really trying to convince myself it’s Chesney so if it’s true I will be a little disappointed.

Hartline is good too I just don’t think the CCG is important enough for an assistant to hold off for an extra week. Let someone else call the plays and work out the kinks before the playoffs. If they lose the CCG they’ll still get a bye.

Ummmmm, if you're offering a "Co-OC" with zero HC experience and less than a year experience of "Co-OC" experience a huge opportunity and several million per year pay raise, and he says that he wants to wait on the announcement, while massive damage is being done at PSU, because he wants to protect his alma mater......, you immediately tell him that the offer is null, void and withdrawn (or you should be fired as an incompetent AD). If a potential hire is more concerned about his former team than PSU, that is flashing red signals to any AD that this is the absolute WRONG candidate! Any remotely competent AD would tell such a candidate that they are fired before they even started if they want to put the interests of their old team over the interests of PSU.

Bottom line is I will support and root for whomever is hired as the head football coach at Penn State. I will watch the games. I will attend and tailgate in the lots. I will wear PSU gear nearly everyday like I do now. However, if the new HC does not have PSU in the playoff and beating OSU or Michigan or Oregon in the next 2-3 years, Pat Kraft needs to be sent packing.

There should be no "talks" at this point - there should only be a deal that is already signed but not announced. If Kraft hasn't already wrapped something up, then he has failed miserably.

No doubt, even if he's hoping to sign Sitake - he's put himself in a horrendous negotiating position with all other options signed with other P4 teams and Sitake, a last option, unsigned???? Essentially, Krafty The Clown has gone all-in against 4 Aces and a 1-eyed Jack. Sitake can demand whatever the hell he wants $$$-wise and term-wise and Krafty The Clown has zero leverage to negotiate at this point. Good Lord, this clown is in so far over his head, it's ridiculous.

Send him packing tomorrow morning. He single handedly destroyed the football program.

Guys, warm me up on this BYU coach. Not feeling it.

I know they are number 11. This just doesn’t move the needle for me. I guess I’m spoiled by thinking of bigger names.
Based on everything I’ve read guy is an excellent coach and a good man. Was Kyle Whittingham’s DC and AHC at Utah. Has done well at BYU. Biggest concern in the geographic fit.

I don't care if he is Mormon. Can he recruit, manage the portal, attract elite QBs and WRs and have a physical win at the line of scrimmage culture that he instills?

I have to believe there is a very small Mormon community in State College. Will he and his family like it in SC? Will it be a good fit? BYU and Penn State are very different institutions and communities. These are legitimate questions.
Like any good Mormon coach, all he needs are 26 year old linemen. The rest is gravy

Relax, he's not coming here. Remember this is Pat Kraft

Yeah, the ESPN article is just to rub it in. They couldn't wait until it was for real so they'll laugh when they get to run a story about it falling through. Flip a coin with Diaz the head and Al Golden the tail.

Neither of those will win 8 games a year at PSU.

Again, we look like the most incompetently run university in the country. It’s really pathetic. Maybe we still sign him, but the recruiting class is ruined. Getting some of his recruits over to Penn State at this point without a signature by tomorrow morning is over. It’s likely over anyway. It doesn’t seem like anybody in the country thinks Hartline is ready for an hc role. It’s taken several years for his own alma mater to trust him alone in the OC position. Firing Franklin to go to Brohm would again put us in the college football historical textbook under the chapter of laughably incompetent institutional control.

Love this thread.

Franklin boot lickers for 12 years: “10 wins is good enough, leave Franklin alone!”

Franklin boot lickers now: “new coach better win everything now that we fired the 10 win a year guy, I have high expectations!”
Franklin haters for 12 years… “He can’t win the big games, I don’t care about 10 wins.”

Franklin haters now. “If he beats OSU, I’m good with 9-10 wins”

Per chance, did you play in the PSU Blue Band?

I’d rather run the wishbone offense and eat Crumbl cookies owned by BYU Mormon fans than ever have Franklin coach my team again.
That’s fine. When Sitake stays at BYU and PSU is still without a coach this week, you’ll need the Crumbl cookies for comfort.
