FWIW. To your point. The rumors with UF are they are interested in Fisch, which would open up the UW job…..for DeBoer to go back unfortunatelyMy list is based on the coaches that might potentially move to these openings, most of whom are more inclined to remain in the South or head south:
- Kiffin
- Key
- Drinkwitz
- Lea
- Sumrall
- Fisch (current UW coach but Florida alum)
- Lashlee (sp?)
It is not a slight of the PSU position, it is the reality of the desirable coaches.
I have no desire to see PSU hire Hartline, Golden, or Fitzgetald.
Interesting.I might be late to the party on this one, but a mystery candidate has interviewed.
More like Austin PowersWe're gonna hire Chaz Powers aren't we
Schiano FTW! /sI might be late to the party on this one, but a mystery candidate has interviewed.
I think you're right about Deboer jumping at the opportunity to return to Washington should Fisch end up at Florida.FWIW. To your point. The rumors with UF are they are interested in Fisch, which would open up the UW job…..for DeBoer to go back unfortunately

Not even close to funny.Schiano FTW! /s
*that you know of.Quite frankly, I’m stunned Terry hadn’t even interviewed for the job until this week. It’s actually alarming as it means to me, coupled with the Bobby Engram news, we’re not close to hiring a coach. It also leads me to almost believe Terry is the front runner right now, if for no other reason, there aren’t many other candidates. Which is wild to me, if true.
Penn State isn’t a top 5 job in the country. Hiring Terry Smith or Chesney proves that. Similar to IU wasn’t a top 5 job when they poached Cignetti from JMU. You can’t attempt to hire Cignetti, fail then hire his replacement at JMU and call yourself at Top 5 program. Hiring Smith just proves you’re not serious, you didn’t have any serious candidates and it’s a easy scapegoat in a attempt to avoid national embarrassment of striking out on every major candidate. That's a really interesting ranking of the open jobs. Until further notice, Penn State is the premier job in the entire northeast and mid-Atlantic states, and it is easily top 5 in the country. As a coach, you know that the Penn State job doesn't come open very often, so you may have only one chance to make a claim to that real estate during your coaching career. Meanwhile, one or two "prime" SEC jobs is likely to come open every other year. So if you are a top-level coach, you have the opportunity to get a good SEC job several times during your career. The Penn State job is highly coveted in the coaching community, as we will soon find out.
I think Fisch is a fall back option for Florida at best.I think you're right about Deboer jumping at the opportunity to return to Washington should Fisch end up at Florida.
Maybe but 13-15 mil a year buys you more in SC than Seattle.I think you're right about Deboer jumping at the opportunity to return to Washington should Fisch end up at Florida.
All hat, no cattle.lots of smoke, no fire

Honestly, I don't think he cared whether he's right or wrong I can't say. But a coach cannot publicly dis the university he works for and keep his job. I believe Franklin's comments were intentional and calculated. He had already checked out and didn't care. There is reason to believe that he and the people to leave with him were intimating to recruits to decommit before Franklin was fired.Franklin was FIRED in case you missed it. He has EVERY right to do all he can to make VaTech a winner, including poaching coaches and players. If Kraft wasn’t smart enough to realize this, he’s a fool.
You have no idea whatsoever if Penn State tried to hire CignettiPenn State isn’t a top 5 job in the country. Hiring Terry Smith or Chesney proves that. If you’re right it’s almost worst that you would hire Smith or Chesney without reaching out to Cignetti. Not really the gotcha comment you thought it was, isn’t it’s Krafts job to attempt to hire the best in the country if available. You have no idea whatsoever if Penn State tried to hire Cignetti
Rick Neuheisel, with his son as OC.I might be late to the party on this one, but a mystery candidate has interviewed.
You have no idea what has gone on during this coaching search and have no idea who Kraft is targeting or who he offered or who has turned him down. You sound mad though so good luck with that.Penn State isn’t a top 5 job in the country. Hiring Terry Smith or Chesney proves that. They also lost to Minnesota 24-6, so there’s that.Michigan beat Nebraska 30 - 27.
That means Nebraska can play.
Trying to find the perfect superstar for HC is a waste of time.
Mr. Smith is the man.
Please hurry.
Assistant to the regional manager.Terry's current title is Interim HC. Prior to being named Interim HC, his title was Associate HC, not Assistant (he was made Assistant HC in 2014 by Franklin and Associate HC in 2016).
The actions by BGJ are to be expected. I do believe that depending on the state (and perhaps at the federal level), there are civil legal remedies with respect to current employees operating in a manner that is clearly against the interests of their employer.I dont have a problem with Franklin trying to get his recruits to VT. I expect that. Its the fact that people still employed at PSU were telling kids to decommit. I guess PSU was stupid enough to keep them around. Is sabotage from within acceptable in 2025?
Another emotional Penn State fan who can’t handle an ounce of objectivity and has to resort to personal attacks. You have no idea what has gone on during this coaching search and have no idea who Kraft is targeting or who he offered or who has turned him down. There is so much BS flying around that some of it gets covered over by other BSWhat happened to all the talk about Hartline? Hardly gets a mention anymore.
How do you know this? You have no idea how many options Kraft has. How do you know what options are legitimate? You have zero idea how long this search is going to take.Honest question: who do you think Kraft should have hired by now? Because the only guys available before the end of the regular season were either just fired or they’re “retired”.
I guarantee every one of Kraft’s legitimate options is still coaching and there is no possible way he could have hired any one of them by now. Give it another week or two. Our search was always going to take this long.
MondayWhen do we think a decision needs to be made by? Within the next two weeks?

That's true but him and his family are already familiar with the Seattle area. If they like larger metropolitan areas then UW would win out.Maybe but 13-15 mil a year buys you more in SC than Seattle.
I would hope so but I'm not a lawyer. We need some lawyers to chime in here but even that might be hard given the limited info. The actions by BGJ are to be expected. But will Bernice want to move to Florida?FWIW. To your point. The rumors with UF are they are interested in Fisch, which would open up the UW job…..for DeBoer to go back unfortunately

Perhaps, there is certainly a lot of potential discovery.Any chance this could maybe impact Sexton? He’s the one moving all the pieces here.
